She won all her trophies whilst the drug she was taking was not on the banned list.

"when did she fail it and when did she win the trophies?"
It was at the Australian open.

"The Russian, 28, tested positive for meldonium, a substance she has been taking since 2006 for health issues."

Although drug use in Russia is well known with their athletes.

The drug in question only got added to the banned list on 1st jan 2016.....emails were sent in December 2015 to notify everyone. She won all her majors whilst taking a substance that was ok to use, so absolutely she should keep all her titles

Sensationalist BBC blowing this way out of proportion as usual

She's been taking this medicine since 2006, and it was only added to the list of banned substances a month and a half ago, so no, she has absolutely nothing to feel ashamed or guilty about.

Doping and banned substances is one of the big news stories of the moment, so the media will overhype anything and everything that touches on the subject

While she was born in Russia, it's doubtful that she has been exposed to the same influences as Russian athletes. Most of the time she is on the tour, and has her main residence in Florida. The only puzzle is how it is possible that she would not be aware of the revised status of the drug, and even if she was, it's unbelievable that one her entourage wasn't able to remind her.

WADA emailed the ITF, which was then circulated to all members, and attached to this email was an updated list of banned substances, which Sharapova claims not to have opened.

Halesowen

It's a well known performance enhancer which has finally been banned. Her claims that she took it on medical grounds are risibly ludicrous - she knew exactly what she was doing.

However, it was not banned when she won the trophies, so technically she will be able to keep them.

How she and her entourage missed the announcement is beyond me, unless of course she thought she wouldn't get caught.
