There are some people I wish I could block from _iew in the forums. Mainly because they prove time and again my opinion of them is correct.

But then I suppose if that were possible then some threads wouldn't make sense

Blocking is a good tool from stopping people from contacting you, the forums wouldn't read correctly if half the comments were missing due to so & so blocking so & so

There's some fucking oddballs in here. Take any measures you can to protect yourself... For example, from those who use your verifications as a weapon against you.

hey its common here you should be able to read a comment objectively but some allow their feelings to get involved rather than debate or they get personal or they think that the comment is about them ,who knows why they do it sometimes

what impact does it have on a person having to read the posts of someone they have blocked..... it's a nano second to move onto the next post.

If I block someone, it's for my own reasons. If it seems silly or pointless to someone else, I'm not the slightest bit bothered.

I'd like a forum block button sometimes, although I'd use it much less often than the profile/message block. It can make threads a bit strange and disjointed to read sometimes though.

Loads have blocked me. Again, not bothered.

One guy who I'd want nothing to do with in a zillion years, and who lives miles away has blocked me. It amuses me, if anything, but it doesn't bother me.

Some people from here do send sneaky abusive messages to other fora users (and then block to avoid retaliation), if they don't like a post though, so blocking people who don't live locally but whose posts you don't like, isn't always as daft as it may seem.

I like the block button. I imagine that my finger is hovering over a bank of little red round buttons which I caress, each representing a country which can be annihilated at my whim. I give them a three second warning and then, poof

Then I feel embarrased and start behaving like an adult

We've been blocked by a few forum regulars over our time .

And unblocked too in most cases .

I guess there are times we wonder why , but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter .

Outside the forum we actively encourage locals who have no intention of meeting us to block us . As we do to those we know we won't meet .

I don't tend to block from the forum, I don't see the point in it. How are they possibly going to affect me if I don't correspond with them.

Similarly I don't know if or whom have blocked me from forum posts. If I've never contacted or looked at their profile previously I'm not likely to ever find out

I couldn't care less what people think about me blocking them or not blocking them."

We agree

Back where I belong

I can't imagine blocking anybody just because I didn't agree with their opinions. Blocking them won't stop them being a dickhead and we need dickheads to balance out those of us who aren't.

To block or not to block - that is the question. Tis nobler to ramble on spouting inane drivel than to make sense and upset people.

I shall now return to my corner xx

"I've been blocked by a few on the forums - can't think why, I'm lovely me.

Me too.

You're lovelier than me so I can't think why you'd be blocked.

I'm clearly misunderstood......"

Maybe they were offended by the dodgy Latin

I remember someone creating on here because the person they had blocked had replied to a forum post of theirs. The blocked person didn't have a clue they were blocked. When you block someone it would be helpful if you send a message first saying "YOU'RE BLOCKED!"

I've only ever blocked 2 people from what they say on the forums, and the posts they were about made me feel very uncomfortable about them being able to _iew my profile.

Other than that, I have no reason to block people, the whole point of a forum like this is the different _iews people have and the opportunity and ability to have a debate

The whole forum might have blocked me and I wouldn't know. I don't look at profiles.

There are posters I never open threads they start as I have zero interest in anything further they have to say.

I skip past their postings and the world continues to turn.

Block them? They're not important and I don't take anything on here too seriously.

Agree. I learnt that to my cost yesterday.

NEVER again.

Saw he had started another typically 'incendiary' thread earlier. To my shame i clicked on it, wanted desperately to make a pithy response, but managed to abstain.

Next time I'll follow your advice and attempt not to click on it at all.

"I think blocking is incredibly childish. "Awww baby dunna wanna see howwible nasty person any more".

Jeez. "

I read this and thought, 'This is just the kind of person that I want to block', so I went to block them and found out that I already had

It's fun to click randomly to see who has blocked you. What if your partner has a profile and you use that to _iew your nemeses(pl)? Bet that's even more fun.

Q. "What's the point of blocking people who live miles away from you"

A. People travel, people re-locate.

Q. "Why would you care if someone you dislike can _iew your profile?"

A. Because I do. Ok that's facetious. I care because I want absolutely nothing to do with that person, I don't wish to _iew them, or have them _iew me. Blocking is the only tool I have that allows me some small amount of control. Yes I know they can get another profile and look, but unless they're obsessive that's unlikely to happen.

I block people for various reasons but the most common one is that they are unappealing to me due to their personality and _iewpoints and I can't be arsed to use the notes feature and have a terrible memory. The fact that I have blocked them tells me enough.

No probs; I can start a thread and people can put their names down

You can then return the favour

This explains the occasional inexplicably blocked profile and has genuinely put my mind at ease because i can be quite opinionated. It all makes sense now haha
