you will get lots of thoughts if you do a forum search and enter 'bareback'... there are many threads on the subject and it usually creates lots of very different opinions.
for me.... it is safe sex but appreciate other's choice to do different, but I feel they owe it to future playmates to be upfront about that

I don't do bareback but I've been stupid in the past I always play safe now and get checked every 3 months but barebackers have as much right to be on here if we don't like it then don't meet them |

I've only played bareback within a relationship. When swinging, condoms are mandatory but, if I was honest, I don't really get on with them very well - I do use them but it's like having a bath with your socks on to be blunt. |

Probably the same type of thrill people get doing Extreme Sports, were the next risk you take may be your last.

The same reason why people decide to live a promiscuous lifestyle but some how like to take the moral high ground about how others in the scene conduct their business!

Everyone on here who meets anyone else is taking some 'risk'...be that with their sexual health or be it their safety. It's for each of us to decide how much risk we are willing to accept. |

It seems far too much is assumed on this subject...
People do bare-back for the thrill of the risk? Or maybe they believe that the risks are not much higher in light of all the other sexual activities that occur.
Bare-back is playing Russian Roulette...
A gun with one round and six chambers in simplistic terms is six to one. In previous posts on this subject I seem to remember someone posting stats saying that the odds of acquiring HIV from an infected person are 1000 to 1. So if I had to choose one, have sex with an HIV infected person or put gun to my head and pull the trigger, I'll take the shag.
The government and the media have convinced pretty much everyone that if you have sex with out a condom you will die or at least catch a multitude of nasty diseases, so perhaps the answer to your question is...
Bare-backers have not fallen victim to government brainwashing. Whatever the true answer it still remains to be very ironic that some swingers will take the moral high-ground while the fact of swinging totally defies a fundamental principal of 'safe sex' which is DO NOT be sexually promiscuous |

On another well known Uk swinging site they stated, very clearly that to date and according to official information...only two people have ever died from aids via swinging...what a load of misleading bollocks...are they honestly suggesting that they publish surveys taking from dying victims of the disease???
I dont think the 'government have convinced everyone' that having unprotected sex is a death sentence..its not 'brainwashing either'..they are just tryng to make people aware..teenagers certainly dont bother bagging up much..and how many people would insist on asking for their new partner of say a few months to get checked out for any nasties before they have sex for the first time..
I have heard people say 'you just have to use common sense and be careful who you go with'...as if only 'rough types' have the monopoly on STD's...
6-1 or 1000-1...no wonder a lot of swingers are good pokers players!!

I dare say you could be right that the government are just trying to make the public aware, so maybe the brain-washing is self-induced |

I see the attraction of the idea, BB enhances an experience, certainly physically, however it has it's risks for sure!
Personally any meet I have is protected, if whoever I meet with doesn't want that then I politely decline to go any further.
But that'smy choice, not everyone's |

i guess everyone sucks dicks with a condom on too
or eats pussy with a femidom on as well
do people really think that just bareback fucking is the only way to catch something??
to stay safe just fuck in bin liners and rub against each other
or drive on the M1 at 95 miles an hour and see which one your more likely to die from! |

I think those that choose to do it, do it because lets face it, it feels better..
Some like the feeling, some like the way it feels when they cum in, or get filled...
I used to ride big fast bikes, I didnt do it for the thrill really, I did it because I loved it, I loved the freedom it gave me..
However, I raced cars for the buzz it gave me and still do when I get the chance.. nothing better than bringing the revs up, and flooring it..and seeing if I can get the times down on a track day.
On a bike I have done in excess of 160mph.. now thats a thrill.. but one I am aware that the slightest thing could have killed me.
Its all about calculated risk...
I play safe during sex... but I dont with oral.. (which to be fair is almost as risky)

Well maybe just lucky then, because one thing I do know is that risk assessments and statistics on things like STD’s and even smoking related deaths are flawed, and as someone who used to input such statistics on a daily basis its clear to even silly old me that many are flawed and most just assume the cause, so my experience is that nobody knows the actual risks we take with oral because the statistics always blame penetrative sex and in most cases when oral has taken place so has penetrate sex, so the latter is always flagged as the cause. |

A non swinging mate of mine actually caught Thrush (the infection not the bird! ) from a woman he picked up in a pub. He had to go to the doctors and he said that the Doc could guess how he had caught it. He (the mate) asked his lady friend about it and she confirmed she had an itch and some other problems "down below" for a while!
It maybe a minor infection, but it does kinda illustrate how easy it is! |

thrush often happens,if the female has been using, antibiotics, for any reason.
i think, the antibiotic, kills off the good bacteria,as well as bad.
how this manifests itself as thrush,i don't know.

hows this..
i have worked in the adult industry for over ten years
i meet with and know 100s of people also in the industry
99% of them get tested as often as they can usually every 3 weeks or so
i have heard and seen and talked about just about every infection there is going
mouth infections are HUGE!! be it gon or herpes etc
the point i am trying to make is this..
all one person can do is look after one persons self as in get tested as often as possible.Do not assume that using condoms for penetration you aint gonna get something you are DEAD wrong!
dont worry what other people do just look after your own stall..that way if or when you do catch something you will know it wasnt YOU that passed it on!
as a side note..how many people posting on this thread can hand on heart say they are regularly tested???
my hand is on mine! |

but thrush occurs naturally in both men and women and isnt considered to be an STI so how would any doctor know that a man with thrush had "caught" it from a sexual partner and not just developed it naturally?
i had to cancel a meet due to a bout of thrush recently and the bloke hasnt spoken to me since - some fellas really need to educate themselves i reckon! |

A woman can have thrush in a 'dormant' way for ages and then if disturbed can go bizzare.
Men are actually cleaner - well most !
Only had thrush once in my life and nothing else at all.
Get checked regular too.
The BB thing aint the 'done' thing usually in swinging but many reasons people do.
Aids is the killer - can be tested on the spot prior to play for events where necessary.
Other STD's easily treated with anti - biotics as a rule.
Each to their own.
But anyone who has sex in any way shape or form should get tested regularly.
Swinging can increase the risk due to numbers of.
Condoms only minimise the risk and seen as a mark of respect and can present a false peace of mind that all are safe. These people should still get tested though as said above it aint just being in it to win it.
If anyone on here could honestly say that all their 'safesex' meets were condoms - gloves - and what ever them things are you put on your tongue I'd be shocked.
Don't forget your goggles too !

"just wondered what makes people decide to take the risk? "
Well its not really about risk even those wearing condoms are "at risk" just not at as much risk as those who dont wear condoms ,that surely is down to the individuals.
About 2 years ago in one of the early debates on this subject, a couple on here decided to number crunch the latest Govt figures and the results were interesting.
Generally ,if you assume that everyone who has HIV informed you,the odds of contracting the illness is 3 million to one ,if you assume they do not tell you or do not know the odds drop to 1 million to one. There were Hot spots and cold spots in some area's of society.
Running along side those figures were the success rate of condoms, manufacturers are allowed a 0.4% failure rate before product recall giving us 4000 faulty condoms per million produced, also the 98% success rate of condoms is a manufacturers figure and not accurate ,latest figures are reporting success rates as low as 85%. Despite this the powers that be in Europe believe you are 3 times safer with a condom than without one on ,the US govt stats say 5 times safer.
Condoms only protect against fluid based infections and do not protect against hpv.
I have looked at the risks and decided for me, the best i can do to protect myself is to wear a condom, however i certainly wont condem anyone who doesnt, they have looked at the risk factors and decided to take that risk and providing they are honest about it fine.
For me the real danger is the ignorance of people who think a condom is a fast fix and by using them they are completely safe, for its those people who will rarely go and get checked out.
PS)Hiv tests requires 2 tests the first test can only say you have not developed the markers yet,the second test 3 months later can then state with some certainty if you have or not ,(assuming you have abstained of course)

Femidom's are not used for oral sex, they are used instead of a condom. To be honest they look like a plastic bag that you insert into the virgina. They wouldn't protect you in oral sex.... |

"but thrush occurs naturally in both men and women and isnt considered to be an STI so how would any doctor know that a man with thrush had "caught" it from a sexual partner and not just developed it naturally?
i had to cancel a meet due to a bout of thrush recently and the bloke hasnt spoken to me since - some fellas really need to educate themselves i reckon!"
I don’t know why I am answering this really, but here goes…
His doctor guessed because he had told his doctor that he is a swinger! He believed it best for his Doc to know in case something happened and it had a bearing on it!! (Our Doc knows too!)
And whether you like it or not, Thrush can be transmitted sexually and therefore can be termed a “Sexually Transmitted Disease”!!!

After the birth of my middle daughter by caesarian section the wound broke down and I was put on a course of antibiotics. I was breast feeding and she developed thrush in her mouth from me, although I didn't have it.
It's present in our body.

nonsense..from std.co.uk
Thrush is an infection caused by the yeast-like fungus Candida albicans , or sometimes by other types of Candida.
Although not considered a sexually transmitted disease, many women suggest sex may irritate the vagina and allow Thrush to grow more than usual.
Candidiasis, commonly called yeast infection or thrush, is not classified as an STD. It is a fungal infection of any of the Candida species.

"Thrush is a common side effect of taking antibiotics…. even the antibiotics used to treat some STI’s."
Absolutely right....
It's very common for hospital patients to experience thrush while being treated or recovering on ward. |

It's not a disease, it's an infection. |

the consultant I saw at the hospital also advised against Simple soap.. it can also cause irritation, think it has a mild bleach in it.. thats why they perscribed Dermol. It is fab stuff |

"Canestan (Clotrimazole) is prescribed for both Thrush and Contact Dermatitis.

Are you sure?
Clotrimazole is an antifungal medicine.
Though Canestan do a sweat rash cream which is clotrimazole and hydrocortisone.
Generally contact dermatitis is treated with corticosteroids and emollients, such as E45.

In answer to the first part; unless you are in a long term relationship with a partner, in my opinion, bareback is irresponsible. In addition, there is a risk, be it minor, of catching HIV from oral sex also.

Check out the many posts from barebackers, they frequently quote the various odds of them catching a serious/life threatening S.T.D, usually gleaned from some dubious source.
So we'd say that, like you with base jumping, they see it as a calculated risk worth taking, while the majority of us see it as an unnecessary risk. R |

and i wonder how many take the calculated risk to suck a dick or eat pussy without protection???
i think the best thing for people to do if they use condoms or not is to get checked regurlarly!!
that is the ONLY way to make sure you have nothing and wont pass anything on
using condoms doesnt protect you from everything and thats a fact!

Okay this thread has strayed off a bit..
It was asked why do they do it.. not if it was wrong or right.
In my youth I will confess to often not practising safe sex.. and I was hardly an angel. However, I had a close friend find out she had something rather nasty.. and went to a clinic.. and I actually had been lucky I guess.. but didnt have a thing.
Did I stop... well no.. not till I got married.. and then it was more the risk of taking something home to my husband.
To this day.. in over 20 years I have not caught more than a cold from having sex.. and it was actually only when I got married that I started being safe..
Even my early days swinging with my now ex, he wasnt safe with others.. so me being safe with others was I guess a little pointless.
My point is yes, there is a risk.. but it is actually not much greater than those having unprotected oral..
I do play safe now... and have been tested ever few months for years now..
But back to original post... I hate safe sex.. to the extent I often end up just performing oral because I find it takes so much away from sex.
If I had a regular trusted partner that Master agreed that we could go bareback I would be more than happy, and take the risk.. why.. because it damn well feels better..
I actually think I put myself at more risk riding motorbikes in the manner I did.. or doing my racing.. to be fair I think driving as much as I do full stop puts me at more risk of fatality.
Just my _iews of course... but 20 years of being sexually active.. and only 6 years of playing safe..and not one infection..

God if that would be the case I would be pleading with Master ( wouldnt take much pleading either) for atleast a 10 guy creampie gangbang..
It is a shame.. but sadly a fact of life..
but this is why some of these threads annoy me.. and I actually dont think I have sex any less now than when I was younger.. and had quite a few flings here and there.. yet nothing. not a thing caught.. and I would say with swingers the chance of catching something was less than your average guy/girl down town at the weekend.
I base that on the fact that most of us get ourselves checked.

It's rare I've heard a swinger catch anything because we get checked. Do the one night standers on fri/sat night in the pub get checked, no because they don't think they are at risk I feel it's those people spreading STD not swingers

Actually I would disagree.. most are far to scared to approach a sober woman for sex.
