I have just watched the remake of the old John Wayne film True Grit.

I loved the origional version

The remake was near enough a straight copy of the origional, with a bit of a change here and there, however it was very good.

What film would you like to see remade and why?

Disney is remaking The Black Hole, really looking forward to seeing that, even back then the SFX where excellent, with todays technology though I'm sure it will be an excellent remake.

I know you asked for remakes we are keen on, but I have to say (as others have) I just don't like them generally..

I had high hopes foe the Ladykillers as it was done by the Coen brothers (as is the new True Grit, funnily enough) but it was awful and just made me want to see the original again..

And don't get me started on the Pink Panther with Steve "didn't he used to be really funny?" Martin... No!!!

Just saw a dodgy trailer on youtube, it is a prequal about the team that actually find the thing in the ice, couldnt really say if its going to be a good movie as the trailer was recorded from a mobile phone judging by the quality.

The Departed's a good remake of the brilliant Infernal Affairs but it's hard to think of many other decent ones. I think the best thing to do is remake crap films rather than classics.

Good remakes:

Assault on precinct 13

True Grit (I liked it much better than than the JW version. Is it a remake though or just another interpretation of the original book?)

Bad remakes:

Wicker Man

The Assassin (with one of the Fonda women, remake of the french film Nikita)

cape fear,in the early90s was a very good remake of the original, especially as they had the original stars, robert mitchum n gregory peck in cameo roles.

oceans11,with clooney, pitt was far better than the original with sinatra n dean martin

and as this thread was started about a western, how about 3.10 to yuma, russel crowe reviving glen fords, ben wade

I've seen good reviews of 'Bad Lieutenant' with Nicholas cage but I thought the original was better with Harvey Keitel.

I've always thought 'Logans Run' would be an ideal candidate.

I too love Harvey in the original. You have no idea if he is really doig the drugs or not!

I loved the original Charlie and the chocolate factory. Cannot bring myself to watch Johnny Depp in the remake!

The script is being written at this very moment for the remake of Logans Run, it's being made by Ridley Scotts production company.

Compared to Scum, DogPound is a heap of shite. However, in its own right, its not a bad film. I've certainly seen worse trash on the big screens recently.
