No, you never know who may turn up out of the blue and gatecrash the meet  
Even if it's an organised group social the location etc. are kept between the interested parties by pm 
There have been occasions where newshounds have turned up and written about it in the rags

Or what's the best way to meet those that are of interest to you?"
Do you mean if you're wanting to meet more than one person, like a big social gathering? Any that we've been to have been advertised in the forum, names put down and location advised privately nearer the time. It's worth remembering that apart from not everyone on the site being who they claim to be the forums are visible to non members. |

I think you've done the right thing, said where it is (roughly) and when. Hopefully people will PM for the exact venue and I wouldn't publicise that in an open forum.
If there's specific people you want to come, PM them and see if they can make it!
