Owners Direct?

We are looking for an apartment in Venice for July and am wondering if anyone has used Owners Direct website to book an apartment?

If so was it straightforward and would you recommend it?

I have booked a villa and go in May. Friends have been to the villa to check it out (when in the area) and said it looks great. They had a look around at the consent of the family their at the time.

I have always had direct contact with the owners or villa managers. To date everything has been good but I will obviously know more when I return!

We used them a few years ago to book a apartment in Spain. We had no problems with the person we dealt with and the apartment was fine. The only problem we came across was when we arrived in Spain we had trouble at first getting hold of the person who had the keys for us. Other then that, it turned out better then expected with great views which the pics didnt really show off.

Good luck and hope you have a good holiday

We've booked twice before in the past and never had a problem. Worked out heaps cheaper than booking with a travel agent/company. Happy holidays for wherever you go.

We have been using them for years and have never had a problem. Some of the best holidays we've had have been booked through owners direct. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Be careful I believe that some of the streets are liable to flooding.

Registered and took a look at AirBnB last night. Some stunning apartments at very reasonable rates!

Think we have our work cut out choosing from them all lol

Even when some areas are flooded its still a great place to holiday in. They put raised walkways up in many flooded areas and we just plan our trips around it. The winter is the time its more likely to flood anyway. Theres apps you can download to show when its going to flood.

We love Venice.

If you're looking at Airbnb then check that people have reviews. Especially in a place like Venice where last minute accommodation would be pricy. I use airbnb and have stayed at unreviewed places but only for one night - there have been a few rip off stories!

With airbnb you usually pay either with your credit card through the site or cash on arrival. If someone wants a bank transfer don't do it!

We love it too. Once we have had a walk through St Marks Square to take in the atmosphere it's off through the winding streets and over the canal bridges getting lost in the rabbit warren until we come across a gem of a square with a stunning church and more importantly a restaurant full of locals all having a good time, which is always an indicator that the food is going to be fabulous and reasonable.

As for the flooding I think it ads to the charm of the place and seeing the locals taking it in their stride, getting on with everyday things is fabulous!

Avoiding the tourist hotspots from mid morning on is the key to a wonderful Venetian holiday and I know it is very controversial but I can never tire of seeing massive cruise liners making their way so majestically along the grand canal!
