In 2014 I got hit by a car resulting in many operations which left me with multiple scars on legs. My question is are scars a turn off as I am bit embarrassed of them !!

Sorry to hear that and I'm sure it has an effect on you.

For me with a female? No. Of course I'd look as it's only natural to be frank to them but they're just part of that persons makeup.

Scars would make no difference to me. It's part of your body's history. I have a couple of scars, I'm sure most people do.

You could explain beforehand, so whoever you're meeting is aware. Then you won't be concerned about it.

Don't find scars a turn off, my ex had quite a few from various accidents and I barely noticed them.

not at all, shows what you have went through in the past and many will look with admiration, don't try and hide them or use creams to try and hide them, show them off with pride

as for me, im like a patch work quilt due to 30 years of motorbikes

I have numerous scars. They define who we are. My scars come from fights with ex, dog fight scars, and meningitis. I don't mind mine. You accept me for who I am

Scars tell a story and some are stories of courage and survival, don't be ashamed of them,if people like you then a few scars shouldn't change that, unless they affect you physically in which case then you may need to mention them so the other person is aware of any limitations

I'm so glad someone has made a thread about this. I don't have an incredible amount of self esteem as it is but i've been worrying recently as i'm having an operation soon that will leave me with a 6 inch abdominal scar. I'd kind of figured that'd be game over for me but some of the responses here are very relieving.

Physical scars are there to be seen and accepted, as are facial features and body types. On this site I'd be more worried about the physcological scars people have that you can't see!!!

I think scars are just part of the person we are. They should not define us, I like my scars, not morbidly, but because they remind me of survival, those scars from surgery saved my life and that I embrace but do not define myself by them nor do I care to what people think of them.

If scars out anyone off then they are not a person you should want to be around.

Sorry to hear what happened and understand ur reluctance or wanting to prepare others.... When scars are new I think they are more noticeable and I do think it's worth mentioning when u meet for that coffee etc .... Just by chatting about the bike even .....

Over time they fade and they are the testimony that you have survived and it's now part of ur character to be one who came out the other side xx

they will fade with time and you will get used to them.

I was involved in a serious accident way back in 84 and suffered 30% burns, as a result I no longer need to shave my legs lol

I would guess many people have some scars somewhere on their body. It's just part of your history. I wouldn't mention it on your profile, but tell people you are conscious of them before you get to the stripping off stage.

You can always have a bit of fun about them. My teenage son was run over when he was five and has multiple scars including some on his head that left him with bald patches. He started telling people how he was attacked by a shark, eaten by a whale or fought off a grizzly bear to save a group of orphans of an outing.

How you handle the situation is up to you.

When I was 15 I was in a horse riding accident that resulted in me having pin and braces in my leg. I've also had heaps of other operations (benign tumour removal, C Section etc). I had really low self esteem when I was younger now I just think if people judge me on the way I walk or my scars then they're not the kind of people I need in my life. I have met one knob from here that I forgot to mention my dodgy leg to and I never heard from him again..... I'm so glad!

So OP be proud of your scars as they are the signs that you're a survivor..... Apologies if this has made you too start singing the Destiny's Child tune x

I have several scars on my knees from numerous operations and I sometimes get embarrassed by my knees! I'm also going to be having a knee replacement at some point and the scar from that will be a whopper! I just hope the near full leg tat distracts them! X

I can't believe anyone would be even noticing your scars your so hot! I know what you mean tho I have severe arthritis and sometimes have to use a crutch but I'd not meet if I was having a bad time! I recently had a knee op and they have me a stick and I felt so self conscious x

Me too, I've got breast cancer scars, a skin cancer scar, a Caesarian scar and a few others. My meets that have asked about them have been lovely, but most haven't said anything and it certainly hasn't put them off meeting me again....

Don't worry about them OP...

I've got a few stretch marks as I was a little midget at secondary school, then in the old 3rd year I grew about a foot in about 6 months... It's only in the last 12 months I've thought fuck it..

Seriously, it's no issue to me.. nobody is perfect...

Don't worry too much, Mine have never stopped me from being a fanny magnet ?? and I've got loads from the top of my head, on my face, chest, hands, arms and legs, off everything from chicken pox to stupidity. They're usually never mentioned or enquired about curiously, i've even played top trumps-scar edition with a couple of play mates, seeing who has the daftest excuse for those little imperfections.

Will have another one by this time tomorrow following another 'incident' requiring a little surgical attention

Wouldn't bother me one bit - actually, my last two exes have a few scars (and one actually has a chunk missing from his knee cap) and I liked stroking them & kissing them better.

To me, scars are like good tattoos - I like finding out the stories behind them.
