Mother's Day & Father's Day

Just a thought... as I walk home loaded down with presents for my mum

Now, my mum always says she's not bothered about Mother's Day and tells me not to buy her anything as it's all commercialized blah blah blah, but I always do as I see it as an excuse to treat her for generally being my mum.

However - I don't do Father's Day as my step dad has done some incredibly vile things to me when I was a teenager, BUT I still feel mean for not buying him anything so I'm considering just buying him some sweets or something. Am I soft or does he just deserve fuck all?

only you can decide what he deserves really.

i dont go overboard on either day really, just flowers or choccies for mum and actually dad usually insists on cooking a family dinner for fathers day

I think he does deserve something, as he's not consistently been a twat for the past 22 years.

I don't tend to buy my mum much anyway. This year she's got two fancy bath bombs, a couple of mini milk tray boxes, a nail varnish on het favourite colour & a nice new colouring book.

Depends what he's done. If it's something that you can forgive and forget maybe go for it. You seem lovely

Well I can't forget it, forgiving it is a work in process.

Don't be deceived by lovely appearances.

this i think is key. ifgetting him a little box of sweets or something goes someway to go moving on from whatever has happened then that must be a good thing yes?

I am envious of you being able to but your mum gifts for Mother's Day...

I lost my mum in 2014 but the plus side is me and my sister celebrate the day with afternoon tea and prosecco in mums memory

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

If anything im sure he is aware of the hurt/distress he caused you.. by giving him a token gesture it shows you are a wonderful lady and that you have risen above his torments.

He would feel guilty that despite his abuse of you at times, you turned out to be a strong caring woman

little house on the praire

I'm always spoiling my mum, can't spoil her enough not always big expensive stuff just little stuff, she's bloody done enough for me and it's now my turn.

Anyway she's getting bugger all this hear because she's going on holiday on the Monday so just a card then when she gets back some nice spring flowers and where going for light lunch at the pretty tra house that's all covered in fairy lights.

It's day after my birthday this year so I will get my normal bunch of flowers from my mum. She always buys me a bunch of flowers for mothers day as she says she wouldn't be a mother if it wasn't for me.

My dad is easy a bunch of sweet Williams as they where his favourite flower to put on the grave

Fathers day isn't until June so you have time to think about it.

I no longer speak with my biological parents, but when I did I'd get them a card, but there was never a meaning behind it, even made sure it just said happy mothers/fathers day.
