Earlier this week my young dog died, very sad times and thanks to all who gave kindness here.

Anyone hear about the pet treats from China being tainted with poison causing kidney failure in dogs?

Last thing my dog ate was a chew stick from a discount store!!

China don't have the same quality assurance / food safety protocols in place as European / the usa . as an example there was the famous and very sad case a few years ago of Chinese made baby formula powder being tainted/ adulterated with melamine.

Be weary , additionally I noticed some discount stores (in Belfast) seem to stock Heinz branded condiments made under licence in China by a third party , parallel imported by discount chains to give the illusion of a big brand item at a vastly reduced cost.

Actually I think China do, they just have alot more corruption which flout it!... It's why they've had a massive crackdown in recent years and have been merrily shooting(firing squad) the usual suspects!

I mean we (The EU) have just been involved in a massive horse meat scandal or if you look in flint Michigan there currently looking at possibly 1000s of brain damaged children through mostly cheap water and crap pipes of all things!

As they become more westernised and reliannt on mass produced food consumables , possibly. Like environmental laws, food safety laws are still in their infancy re China.

Also there is a huge counterfeiting market in China. Recall a case in Canada involving tubes of fraudulently made Colgate and the presence of trace amounts of a toxic carcinogenic substances. Innocuous consumer items being counterfeited in bulk, sold to discount chains .. If something seems to good to be true in terms of price for a particular brand, it is.

saw an interesting documentary a while back where a Chinese factory was producing fake eggs (including the shells) chemically as it was cheaper than getting real eggs
