... I chekced the end credits from a hospital reality prog i was watching as I recognised the voice over from its geordie twang but couldnt think who it was. Turns out it was Tony Cartlege.. which made me giggle as I felt 'Toe knee Cartilege' was apt for a med prog. I was once in the bank and they called out for a Mrs Argument to step into the managers office.. when I got home I found two other Arguments in the phone directory!

What apt and unusual names have you come across that fit the occupation or situation?

There was a Mr Pine-Coffin in the Derby phone book for a while...I would have loved to know what he did.

We have a weather girl on the local news called Sarah Blizzard.

My old geography teacher was Miss Woods, then when she got married she became Mrs England.

Theres also a local plumber called Leigh King.. always makes me chuckle.

slightly off topic,

but my real surnasme is so unusual that there are obnly around 300 of us in the uk, and the name traces back teh 13th century accoding to our research

I once had a customer called Wan King her address was just as apt 2 Badgers Mount. also in the phone book there used to be a wan.k.s.

At one of the hospitals i worked at there was a gynecologist called Dr Studd, who was ably assisted by Sister Brother.

was in MFI in the good old days when you had to wait in a waiting room for your order ...assistant came out with his bit of paper called out "mr and mrs Board"...a voice from the back was heard "we all are !!!!!..... you had to be there !!!!

My old French teacher at school was Mrs France . Have worked with several nurses whose surnames are also Nurse . Also a worked with a Dr Nurse , Dr Pain and Dr D`Eath . Friend from school is Dr Legg .

At my son's school, in P.E., the teacher shouted out bend over ..... which they all promptly did - before remembering that one of the pupils name was Ben Dover.
