Depends who send the message, if a stranger, won't tell them my probs.
If a friend would perhaps say that I wasn't my usual self and see how they reacted to that. Sometimes the last thing someone wants is to hear you being negative.

Depends who asked really. If it's a random then I'd do A. If it's someone I know better then I'd maybe elaborate. I'm probably too open for my own good though so I try to keep my trap shut about personal stuff a bit more these days. |

"You do realise that everyone is going to be sending you a "how are you?" message now
"
Funny old thing, they have already started by people who saw my post
But can you imagine telling them all your real life little probs like ......My washing machine sprung a leak and the dog ate the hamster so the kid is in mourning and won't get ready for school, I have burnt the toast so the other kid won't eat it and my hemorroids are playing up ( none of the previous is true ) instead of saying Fine thanks..... |

I guess my normal answer is pretty much standard on a good or bad day.... I simply reply “Shyte but thanks for asking, and how are you?”.....
But always said with much gusto and glint of wry optimism inflected in my voice, which usually attracts a warm smile back rather than sets an uncomfortable moment.
