Can't Sleep :-(

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Anyone else who can't sleep? I've been like this for almost two weeks and it's draining me. I usually have no problem sleeping, but not lately.

Anyway, counting sheep isn't working. Other tips are welcome.

My sleep pattern gets missed up really easily so I quite often find myself up to 4-5 in the morning and having to get up for work still. Bad times.

Never sleep. Sometimes I get tired enough that I pass out. But I am at the mercy of my cerebrum.

Apologies for the interjection, here.

Easy response/suggestion here, and possibly unneeded but is there something that has been playing on your mind or has entered your life for that period of time?

Obviously, we don't need to know what it is...

Have you tried relaxation sounds (gimmicks, my ex used to call them)? Like identifying sounds or thoughts that used to make you sleepy? Such as a sea breeze or winds?

No need to apologize

Come to think of it I did have a big thing going on for work, but it ended on Friday. Maybe I'll start to get back to a normal pattern soon...

Exercise more during the day and step away from your phone/computer/TV at a reasonable hour.

Failing that, alcohol.

Me too!

I suspect I know what it is Courtney.

Don't go on Fab while you're in bed, keep it separate. Don't worry about not sleeping, watch a film or read a book until you get tired. I have had this for years.

It's because your brain is still active, acting on any stimulus it can.

You need to slow it down, give it less to process.

30 minutes before bed turn off the tv, radio, stereo. Put any books or magazines away. Turn off the light and sit in the darkness and silence before bed.

No talking. Give the brain as little to do as possible.

30 minutes is hard, but it's worth it.

Sweet dreams.....

I loved that album for years, but there's a track on in that sounds like a fire alarm going off inside your head. It still makes me jump to this day.

Approach with caution .
