Having wandered in to my local travell agent yesterday i was asking about holiday destinations.....Turkey and Egypt no problem booking any time of year, Spain is a hot spot as is Cyprus and Tenerife and the usual mediteranean destinations.
It would seem no one wants to take the risk of Turkey and Egypt because of what has happened.....shame really both countries are superb to visit.
Where are you going this year , i have opted for the Indian Ocean |

I went to Hurghada in December with my step-daughter. Had a great time (men are predictable and persistently annoying). That was a couple of weeks before Hurghada attack. Egypt is not a comfortable place to be anyway because of the poverty....and Home Office guidance warns against Cairo - the capital city.
But Turkey should be fine....though like Greece it is full of refugees. Difficult to enjoy yourself on holiday next to people who are suffering. |

You wont have to go to Turkey for a holiday, all the Turks will soon be freely coming over to the UK and taking over.
Once they join the EU there will be a mass exodus to the UK
The EU will give fresh impetus next month to Turkey's bid to join the 28-nation bloc by opening talks on economic policy, Turkey has announced.
Turkey's new Europe Minister Volkan Bozkir said the EU had agreed to open a new chapter in stalled negotiations.
Turkey's long-running dispute with EU member Cyprus, and the EU's concerns about human rights in Turkey have made progress in the talks extremely slow

Apparently there is a 60% chance a magnitude 7 earthquake will strike Turkey sometime before 2030 ...
Istanbul in very close to the fault line where the epicentre of the quake is forecast....
But on that cheery note.... |

there is no terro so come on to Turkey , in my opinion ISIS are a lot further south near the Syrian border. You will have no problems in the areas you will be visiting, even being American. It would not hurt to also consult your Embassy with the same question to see what they reccomen.Don't worry there is no risk and no sign of rebels in any tourist spots in Turkey. There's a lot of tourist there, I think every nationality you will see it in Turkey. So come on hot holidays will be wait yours in here ..... |

going to be border hopping, so the refugees, and potential border delays could seriously modify the route. quite used to queuing for an hour to get into the UK but once in mainland Europe it used to be open, and eastern Europe would be 5 to 10 minutes max for a tourist crossing. Wondering what we will find this year. |

I've been to both & have no desire to visit again whilst the threat level from the FCO is on high.
Each to their own though, you have to travel where you feel safe.

I'm off to Marrakech at the end of this month and planning a family holiday to Turkey in the summer.
I'm not too worried. No matter where you go there's a risk. And prices have come down a lot which is great for families. |

Yeah I understand the forms and against... But atm you can't rule out turkey v Russia going at it after the back and forth since turkey shot down that Russian fighter jet a few weeks ago, let alone what's happening next door in Syria... I'd hold off booking anything there til nearer summer. You'll have a better idea of what's happening then |

Had some difficulty with the language here but are you saying a Russian aircraft was bombed in Hurghada. Never heard of that one. There was a shooting in Hurghada but that was along way away from where I was. |

My ex is finally selling our campervan - I want some of the bits out if it as we'll need them for Swingfields
I'm off to Greece with my boys, my dad & Stepmum. The boys went to Turkey with their dad in August & loved it.

Can we add Bournemouth to the list, go for 2 weeks and you turn into an elderly infirm person who needs an electric scooter to get back to your care home |

Thats really not a good thing.
Why anyone would go to Turkey for a holiday in the current climate is beyond me. Why not just head straight to downtown Aleppo for the craic.
Or just go somewhere equally as warm but without risk of being slaughtered by crazies. |

We went to antalya at the beginning of march. Felt very safe. Tho 2 days agter we got home they bombed ankara but that is still 800 miles from where we were. We would definitely go back. Not to antalya mayb izmir or marmaris as antalya was way out in the sticks. |

I'm actually in Egypt at the moment and it's absolutely fine! I'm staying in the Hurghada area and it's nice because it's so quiet ...not as busy as it usually is obviously!
would love to hear from members who are "brave" enough to make the journey down here ...

Hurghada is out of the way in Egypt, normally full of Germans rather than Brits. It's a beautiful place. The golf course at El Gouna is superb, the diving on the Red Sea is awesome and there's some nice reatraunts down on the harbour front.
Have they finished building there now? |
