I've had an incident where a guy insisted I was his girlfriend. After a couple of messages of me trying to convince him otherwise, I blocked him. I was shocked to find he had messaged the guy who's verification is on my profile. I found this a really horrible experience. I was warned that this goes on but really - why would people do that? Why would anyone want to message someone's verification? |

"Yes some do bypass blocks, did you have to apologise to your verri...
Not your fault at all, quite embarrassing..Another day of FaB education "
Yes - I was embarrassed. They found it odd but funny, more just wanted to check I was ok.
I was really angry and in the end messaged him saying - whilst you are messaging my guys (so to speak!!) message ... And ...!! I don't think he did but how awkward?! |

"On my old profile I had a few people message some of my verifications to "find out about me". One of the many reasons I don't display any of them now."
What's wrong with asking you? Are you that cagey?! Lol
I'd be too embarrassed. |

We had a guy on our previous profile messaging our verifications telling them that we recommended him to them...luckily, they found it odd enough to let us know and he got pretty short shrift...another one messaged us after we'd met a woman who had been turning him down to ask us to put a word in for him... |

"I hope you reported him.. I don't show mine for this reason.... And other reasons "
I didn't? I didn't know I should? I felt a bit sorry for him being so convinced but then I thought - hang on, he's on here?! I just had a paddy on my status and named and shamed him! I then got called a time waster and god knows what else for being horrible to him. |

Reporting is better than naming and shaming - he could report you for the n and s!
Don't forget to block him too. |

This is why you don't rise to this sort of thing. Report, block, and move on. If you start naming and shaming and being horrible to people you run the risk of a ban yourself. |

It doesn't happen just to ladies either. A while back I had a young man message a few of my younger meets being derogatory towards myself with them and trying to strongarm them into a meet
Luckily both girls told me about it and ignored him/blocked him.

When I was new on here , talking 7 years ago now , I did show my verifications. After an incident with a woman mailing those people and asking about me I chose not to display them.
This time round when I decide to meet again I'll do the same thing. It's not a badge of honour |

Same thing happened to me. The people concerned had a couples account and singles accounts and thought I was their friends girlfriend. They repeatedly contacted people that had verified me and sent me quite threatening messages believing i was this other woman.
I reported it to admin but all they did was block which I didn't feel was really enough so I closed my account, opened a new one and blocked all three of their accounts before they even realised my new account existed.
I really felt stalked for a few weeks with their outrageous behaviour. It was horrible.

I had a shocking case of nasty stalking on an old account. Someone kept setting up accounts and being really nasty because of a veri I left someone. I had to close it in the end. |

Same with a pushy couple who wanted to meet me, but I turned them down;
Sent dreadful messages to my veris (and their veris).
One of the reasons why my veris are now always hidden . ( quite apart from the fact that I have no interest in veris.) |

I do know ladies who have messaged my previous meets to make sure I am genuine etc. I don't mind that to be honest, better safe than sorry for them but I always get good feedback so not really worried about it. |

That I understand. I have a friend who I tell where I'll be and times etc. I guess not everyone has that kind of friend. |

"I've had people mail me because they've seen my veri on other people's profiles. Weird as fuck. "
Kind of but it means you will meet guys, there are as we know many timewasters and a lot of women who are here just to chat and not meet so leaving veris for people may encourage more men to message you. |

No they dont which I why I dont have a problem with it, I like the idea of someone feeling safe and secure in my company as they tend to relax more which in turn means a better meet. |

I don't think anyone's ever messaged anyone on my verifications list, even when I did display them but I have been messaged quite a few times by people checking out someone else I have left a veri for. It's not something I would do, but I can almost understand that reasoning, especially if it's a a single girl who doesn't want details but just wants to make absolutely sure someone is genuine. I always ask the person I met before I respond though, just in case there are nefarious reasons for them wanting to know. |

Fair point.
I do understand that female profiles- especially ones that look like mine- may be fake. So I do make sure that I 'prove' I'm real. |

As someone new to the site (male half here), I've found verifications a little odd but only in the way people seem to write them. It's like they are reviewing each other, rather than leaving a statement to verify how real the person is...

One chap who met a friend of mine a few times and i met once along with her went on to message several people from my veris list that I know of..using my name to get a conversion going like he was a friend of mine or something.
I just blocked him and told folk I barely knew him when they asked...I don't think any of them met him. |

Can either be jealous you've not contacted them back or just a down right creep to be honest best to be blocked anyway !! |

People do seem to often use it as some sort of trip (fuck) advisor. I find it weird but some people love it. |
