Today I had a duel with my nemesis. Drum brakes. For those who don't know they are an utter relic of car and bike technology that test your patience to the limit with bloody springs everywhere, adjusters that don't, trapped fingers swearing gauranteed.
I hate doing them. What's yours? |

Heh.drum brakes. Aka "brakes that won't stop you" 
Hmm..for me, it's the hassle of installing aftermarket car stereos.. It shouldn't be as hard and fiddly as it is, and the manufacturer specific non standard connectors you have to buy conversion harnesses for make me want to go on the rampage. |

I did get quite good with drum brakes ( had no option back in the day - there was once a thing called an "8 leading shoe" drum brake on the front of racing bikes, before discs: 8 shoes ( thus 16 springs and 8 adjusters, plus 4 adjustable tie rods).
However I agree;
But there was one thing worse; the "Triumph sprung hub" drum brakes and suspension springs inside a hub!

They sound horrific. I did mine today and there was no room i resorted to taking the cylinder off to get room to rebuild it. But need them to bed in so i can then set the handbrake properly.
Or anything French, at all.
