Had a walk today with 2 friends and walked 4km. Total today which is my best to date, I walked over 10k and most of that as shopping and general running around.

Mine doesnt arrive til Thursday. My mum bought one too so we can spur each other on.
My heart rate is really high (due to weight and being unfit) and a friend mentioned my heart rate shouldn't go over 130 when working out otherwise i wont burn fat efficiently.
Got my induction at the Gym on Tuesday so will ask the personal trainer about it. |

You know what, I think it does BUT I would have to have a root around to confirm. It would be the desktop fit bit that I think I saw it on.... That makes total sense. I might stick to keeping the mapmywalk and myfitnesspal pal together and keep the fitbit separate if I do get one. I like the fact I can divvy up the walks in it and I can also recalculate the calories burned from gross to net so I don't eat too many back. |

Wasn't sure whether to get this or the Microsoft one. I've got both apps installed, which I recommend you to do op, as you'll read your results mainly from there, I'm guessing. Anyone can have the phone apps. |

I love the fitbit. It isn't 100% accurate, but it's close enough and I find that it motivates me to use the stairs more and to use longer distances while walking places because I want my step target reached.
Marc just got the fancier version with the heart rate monitor and loves it

As I said the other day Hun I love mine each day I set myself a goal of 100 more steps than the previous day and it's doing the job. I've also just downloaded a app called easy loss vgb hypnosis listened to it last night as I was dropping to sleep that's pretty good too. X |

That's not *really* true tbh. It sounds like your friend has read one of those charts that says 110-130bpm = 'fat burning' range, and doesn't have the background knowledge to understand really what it means. |

I have a FitBit One (non heart rate model).
Really does motivate me. My target is 10,000 steps daily which equates to 5 miles. I have it synced to my Nuffield Gym Health Score.
Motivates you more when you get challenges from other FitBit friends - very competitive!

Ive only used S Health on my Samsung S6
I Have used My Fitness Pal in the past but only to log food. Now im with Slimming World i dont use it.

Yes - you can use the Fitbit device and app only. You don't need to sync it to other apps. |

lady device? i'm confused what you mean. Its a piece of sports technology which helps monitor heart rate / cunts steps etc. Also enables the user to challenge others and get higher fitness goals. |

Im on my laptop.. just didnt press hard enough on the 'O' key
See im going to find that interesting as i've been told i no longer have to use the CPAP machine at night to keep me breathing. I was having 28 apnea's an hour. But my spo levels are back at 95% rather than 89 :D

I have a Fitbit Charge HR, really good for motivating you. I quite like fitness (despite a complete lack of actually doing any physical activity recently) I find it really useful for knowing my HR during exercise.
Great for keeping track on calories as well.
Unfortunately mine began only holding its charge for 2 days, it should be 4-5, it happened 2 months post purchase, I contacted Fitbit and they're sending a new one ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Using a set HR, say 130 bpm, will have different effects on all people training. Therefore, while you're monitoring your HR during exercise, it is best to use a percentage of your max HR. It has been previously known that 60-75% was the "fat-burning" zone. This is down to the body using fat cells as a source of energy in this region and is dictated by the oxygen available for fat utilisation. Higher intensity will increase calorie usage but a different energy will be utilised. Workout your max HR, by subtracting your age from 220, as a generic rule. |

This is the best way to go. Your personal trainer will be able to tailor an exercise routine specifically for you, give you guidance on what week to increase your heart rate in order to gain the same results as the start of the programme. I was looking at the Fitbit blaze earlier as its look is more of a watch, don't know if I can justify the £160 price tag though when I can check my steps and miles on my phone. Although saying that don't know how accurate a phone is. |

See when im at home i rarely carry my phone with me, and if its in my handbag and i leave it somewhere it doesnt count steps, or round the supermarkets as i hang my bag on the trolley hook.

Ha! Thank you! That is the first time anyone has *ever* referred to me as exceptionally fit! I mean, I'm not - I'm a slightly overweight 40 year old who's trying to keep his belly in check, but I'll take it!
The challenges don't have to be one-on-one. I often do the Work Week Challenge or the Weekend Warrior Challenge with a big group of varying fitness levels. The same 50-odd year old woman hands me my ass every time. She's a bloody machine! Not a clue how she does it but it's good to have a rival to chase. Keeps you motivated! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Mine arrived today after i got in from my 1st gym session.. safe to say im bloomin sore and ache in places i didnt know existed.
Felt sick, but i carried on and although im not fit i still felt proud.
Done nearly 2000 steps so far and only put it on at 3pm or the school run |

It's surprising how they rack up. And you'll improve over time, too. When I started last year, the default 10,000 step target felt about right. I've since upped it to 15,000. Keep going!
I find it works well in conjunction with My Fitness Pal and Map My Fitness. Mix and match apps to get the features you want. |

i only use MFP for a food diary, but now i just write it all down as i follow slimming world.
Im not at the long walks/running stage but heard its great for that |

It's spurred me to do things like go out and walk for half an hour at lunch time. I buy my lunch from the far side of town instead of the shop over the road. That means a two-mile round trip, which is manageable, but worth doing. Just small changes that add up to a lot more activity through the day. |
