On a train - or other transport, how much contact do you make with other travelers?
I've met some afterwards, like the American woman I shared an internal US flight. We emailed and met in other places for meals out etc. Another, a woman from Denver I met in New Orleans, who offered me her home whilst she was away, and we've met a few times in various places. A right wing Mayor who seemed to fall to grasp that our politics were radically different - I didn't get the keys to the city but invited in and a lot of booze shared.
A European sports star met in France, we ended up spending a week together. A Spanish guy who later took me around Spain. Some British shags, from train trips.
A lovely French guy who's just sat next to me - I'm on the train atm. Very charming. |

I talk to people if they talk to me on a flight but I generally keep myself to myself on a train.
I've met some interesting people flying though, the guy who owned the Steinway piano shop in NYC. He gave me some right useful tips about the city.
I sat beside a whole group of older ladies on a flight to Spain... they thought I was uber cool going on holiday alone.

I sat between a Nun and a Guy with a guitar on a flight between Boston and Miami once. I couldn't help but ask both if they believed in de ja vu! That was a fun flight |
