little house on the praire

I'm so sorry to here this, our pets are our family.

There is nothing I can say except as its Friday you and your children have the weekend to mourn the rawness. As any mourning period it will slowly get better.

Don't think because it was a "pet" your grieving should be any less

It's awful. So many of us will know what you're going through. To lose part of your family is just so sad. I think focusing on all the happy times you've had really helps but have a virtual hug for today. x

Awww I'm so sorry and I totally understand your pain. I lost my dog when he was 14yrs old (6yrs ago now) and I still miss him but I know he loved his life and our family.

Remember the good times and know that he loved you and your children as much as you all loved him.

Thinking of you at this sad time xxx

Sorry for your lose. Never easy losing a family pet.

I remember when a kid to not thinking anything about it when our dog died, until we had to put our dog down that my kids had grown up with and suddenly you remember how sad you felt at the time and now your going to have to be the one telling your children the same thing.

Good luck I hope it goes OK and not to upsetting for you as well as them.x

If I was to be positive about it for you. We got another dog not straight away about six months later but a different type of dog so as not to remind them and the wife as she walks the dog of the old pet, and they love her just as much because she is different

X

It's horrible loosing a pet

I used to have a border collie who was 13 when he died,I couldn't bring myself to have him put to sleep, I loved him so much, he eventually died in his favourite spot at the side of the bath, even to this day I have never forgiven myself for not having him put to sleep and ending his misery months earlier, I though it was love at the time but it wasn't I was just being selfish, my feelings towards him and loosing him made me over look what was best for him

It's a hard choice to make but I swore I'd never put my feeling first again

I was gutted when I lost my last dog and was dreading breaking the news to the kids... My daughter looked blank when I told her and I thought oh she's going to burst into tears... And then she said "ahh that's really sad, I loved snoopy, I'm gonna miss him so much...

"can we get that spaniel now"
