Or near enough naked... with work colleagues.
I'm off on a work related trip in April. Me and 40 blokes. There was chat today about the boat trip we've planned and how we'll be able to jump off the boat into the sea.
Apart from the shit that lives in the sea that I'm not comfortable with, I'm even less comfortable getting my kit off in front of people I work with.
My mates are like 'but you're gorgeous and they'd be lucky to see your delicious curves' and I'm thinking fuck that... no desire for anyone I have a professional relationship with to see me under my clothes. They think I'm being ridiculous.
What say you?! |

having been naked with work colleagues in the past(men and women), the only thing that would put me off would be jumping into the water as I'm not much of a swimmer |

"Errr, no.
Not in front of 40 work folks.
"
Only 9 are work colleagues, but they're partners of the firm I work for. The rest are clients but just no. They're all super fit cycling types... and I'm well... not!

"get down the tanning salon and grow attitude its a break enjoy it for what it is you don't have to get into bed with them "
I'm as white as they come... mainly cause I've got skin cancer so the tanning salon is out for me.
It's not sexual... it's just not really that professional I don't think... makes me a bit uncomfortable. |

"Haha... yeah but showing a bunch of strangers here bits of me is one thing but showing the people I work with every day on a professional level is a whole other ball game.
But the outcome is that you think I'm being ridiculous too! "
I think you're being sensible. If you feel uncomfortable then it's wrong for you to do it |

"DG why did you set up a trip that might involve seaside nakedness? "
It's what they pay me to do.
It's not all about seaside nakedness... the last day there's a boat trip to the other side of the island for dinner. It didn't occur to me that they'd want to jump off the boat for a swim on the way! |

"Sounds stressful I won't go swimming at lunchtime because of the high risk of bumping into colleagues in my bather "
This is exactly why I don't use the gyms close to work. No desire to see any of them in their gym gear and vice versa.

I wouldn't want to go away with 40 people. Naked or clothed. Friends or colleagues.
4 to 6 is the biggest group I am comfortable with under normal circumstances.
I don't mix with colleagues at all. I hate works do's and would never work for a company that arranges 'team bonding days' and shit like that.
So I think you know my answer |

When you organise events for a living it's kinda tricky not to be at them. Fortunately they're not a bad bunch and I can probably just about manage five days. With my clothes on! |

How about one of those old school deep sea diver outfits with the big fishbowl helmet??
Otherwise, just wear whatever you feel comfortable in and don't feel peer pressured into Something you don't want to do. I'm sure no one will feel offended if you choose not to strip off and jump overboard.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"Tell them you can't get your clipboard wet.
I'll have my camera so I'll have the perfect excuse not to be getting wet! "
Make them wear DJs for the dinner - they won't want those ruined. |

It's a cycling trip... unlikely that they'll be squeezing DJs into their luggage. |

Will the budget run to getting some DJ printed lycra suits? |

"Its just a body, and everyone has one. To be honest, making an effort to cover up draws more attention than not giving a fuck and just going for it, which is what I suggest that you do. "
I've zero issue with getting naked in front of friends or strangers... it's different somehow with people I work with. Fifteen years is a long time spent being professional to chuck it all in the sea! |

My swimsuit is a proper swimsuit... they're nowt sexy about it.
I got the bus in with one of the other girls in the office this morning and told her about it... the look of utter horror on her face told me that she gets exactly where I'm coming from before I'd even finished the sentence!
She made a very good point, not only would she not want them seeing her next to naked... she said that you'd never unsee them next to naked either! |

I think it comes down too what image you want your colleagues and potentially even bosses or employees too have, i can totally see why some would find this concerning, there is the potential for the lustre of any professional persona you have spent time maintaining too be undermined. But it could be a good thing too, the important thing though, is that you do what your comfortable with. |

I think that you are overthinking it a bit;
I have been on work trips where people have gone swimming and it's been fine;
And there has been no " additional agenda". And it hasn't changed "professional " relations .
However, if you feel uncomfortable about it; why not play your skin cancer card? Say you can't afford to be in the sun too long without cream/ cover-up.
( unless they don't know / you don't want them to know about that either ) |

I'd be the same
I don't get naked infront of anybody I have to see again
I wouldn't want work mates seeing all my flabby bits so they can take the piss behind my back |

I genuinely don't have body issues... well no more than I could do with losing some lard off my arse, but I'm comfortable in my skin and happy to get my tits out on the beach when I'm on holiday with my friends.
It's the whole bosses thing... I don't need to be the topic of tit related conversation over a partners lunch when I'm trying to do a job I want to be taken seriously for if that makes sense. It didn't cross my mind before cause it's not a beach trip... it was the boat conversation that caused me to think about it.
It's not that I'm a party pooper either... I do know how to have fun on occasion. I just feel like my line is drawn and I'm okay with that. I just wondered whether anyone else would feel the same in a similar situation given my mates think I'm being ridiculous.
It doesn't really help that none of you or my mates know the sort of folk I work with and I think that's probably a factor too.

"I wouldn't go on the trip if it involved anything like that. Too weird for me.
I'm organising it so that's not an option. Keeping my clothes on is though. "
You just lost all sympathy... you are organising a boat trip, should have made it a brewery trip |
