R rated movies coming soon

So since Deadpool was a success (I loved it!) it seems to have proven that R rated (even though it was a 15 here) films can do well.

The new Wolverine movie (old man Logan probably) will be an r rated film, and even Batman vs Superman will get an R rated dvd version.

I'm thinking we'll see a lot more R

Wolvey is not for kids. Least not in my eyes. His origin story is the stuff of nightmares and his berserker rage isn't pretty.

What other comic book films do you think will come out as an R?

R? Isn't that the US rating? Isn't it 18 or 15 over here? How does R translate this side of the Atlantic?

Yeah it is.,But studios have been scared to make them because they risk losing money.

It's usually an 18 but I think America are more strict with swearing.

Ok with violence though.

I personally prefer a comic book movie aimed at adults. It makes them much more interesting. Why I love Watchmen so much!

While I think we'll see a few more R rating movies, I don't think we'll see a lot more of them.

R ratings, when done correctly and marketed well (like Deadpool) can be a massive success, but you can't make an awful film successful no matter how much you increase the swearing and violence.

The bean counters are always going to try and get the most money out of a film so usually go for the lower rating when it's theatrically released while then releasing the "longer uncut version" on Blu-ray (taken 2 is a prime example)

Bad idea I think to start making all these R Rated superhero movies. It worked for Deadpool for a reason. Doesn't necessarily translate that'll it work for anything else but the studio bosses are shitting themselves over Deadpool's success. I know Wolverine SHOULD be a bit more of an adult movie but its gonna be weird to suddenly give it an R rating after so many tamer efforts.
