"I have a job interview Thursday, should i shave my shit beard off first?"
Depends mate. If you don't want to shave it completely, get yourself to a decent barber and get them to tidy it up |

Of course you should.
If you are too lazy to bother to shave for a job interview, it gives a very bad first impression IMO.
I'd never hire anyone who can't even be arsed to shave for the feckin interview. Its slovenly. |

"There's a difference between being unshaven and having a beard "
Yeah, and neither are appropriate at a job interview.
I'm in agriculture and have worked in fisheries and both are pretty beard-friendly once you have the job (winter is cold!), but I wouldn't employ somebody who was too lazy to drag a razor over their face for the interview. See also: no tie. |

I've never dragged a razor over my face or worn a tie to an interview.

I've had beards (mostly in winter) and I'm aware of the "upkeep" (trim it once in a while). I couldn't see myself ever turning up to a job interview with one on my face though. Its really no effort to shave and then grow it back at a later date. |

It's all on you
If it's at a smart enough length and you prefer to have one then keep it.
I'm more likely to hire someone who looks confident, so go for whatever you're confident with.
Nothing wrong with a well kept beard, it can hide the baby face if you have one.
And if you think there is no effort in growing a beard you have been doing it terribly wrong |

T sports jacket?"
Yes. I'm not one for hacking jackets. Three button type. Smart trousers, check shirt and tie - smart but not "shooting season".
However, I accept that suits may be better when one is being interviewed for jobs outside of the land (or marine...or for that matter academic) sectors... |

..
I don't know if I should laugh at how ridiculous you sound or pull a face like this..
Why is it ridiculous?
Having a shave is basic "smartening yourself up" procedure.
..
Having a shave yes.. Everyone agrees.. But a beard is a beard.. Trimmed so it doesn't look scruffy, yes.. Shaved off.. Why??
If you are going to trim it, couldn't you make just a little more effort and have a proper shave?
As far as I am concerned, as a feller, the bare minimum effort to look smart is wash, shave, shirt and tie, (note: I didn't say "suit", I don't wear one to interviews).
..
That's nice ..
Back to beards... .. I'm not even a fan of beards. I just think saying not shaving a beard off for an interview is lazy and slovenly, and would stop someone getting a job, is ridiculous..
But is it as ridiculous as a bloke 10 years my junior telling me that I don't know how to grow a beard "properly"?..... "
That depends on if you've ever grown a "proper beard". |

"There's a difference between being unshaven and having a beard
Some clearly don't appreciate the effort that goes into the upkeep of a beard!
Got to feed the small animals that live in it.
I found a hibernating hedgehog in there the other day....now there's a dilemma. What would happen to the hedgehog?
Job interviews are obvs contributing to the decline of British wildlife.
Disgusting.
Agreed....we should set up an activist group to ban the job interview for the sake of British wildlife! Who's with me??
*prints the t shirts*"
But what happened to the hedgehog? |

"Of course you should.
If you are too lazy to bother to shave for a job interview, it gives a very bad first impression IMO.
I'd never hire anyone who can't even be arsed to shave for the feckin interview. Its slovenly.
Is growing a beard "slovenly"? Not shaving is i agree. But they aren't the same thing.
I've had beards (mostly in winter) and I'm aware of the "upkeep" (trim it once in a while). I couldn't see myself ever turning up to a job interview with one on my face though. Its really no effort to shave and then grow it back at a later date.
..

Have the hipsters tried to instigate rules for growing hair out of your face now? Does it include mandatory beard oil and Morrissey haircut? |

It seemed "proper" enough to me, kept the wind out all winter, got shaved off in the spring. |

"The rise of the beard seems proportional to the rise in real ales!
I dunno it could be a conspiracy theory "
Haha!
I don't get that either. I've always d*unk "real ale", it used to be known as "beer" and facial hair was optional in drinking it, as were feckin' "tasting notes".
Hmmm, this one tastes of.....beer. With a subtle hint of beer... |

Lol @ grease....Clem...If you ever put grease in your beard it's divorce time (you are however permitted to use wax and/or beard oil) |

Wax? Are you serious? People put (presumably hair) wax in their beards?
I suppose that really does keep the rain out... |

I can't say the word "moustache" anymore without impersonating Hercule poirot!
I even do the little twirling with the thumb and finger...
It's a terrible affliction as I've never even had a moustache |

"interviewer had a beard...
Was there some mutual beard appreciation going on? Good beards do tend to help men bond I've found.
How did the interview go?"
The subject of facial hair did come up! Sadly it was one of the few subjects broached of which I had the level of knowledge required...... |

The notion of there being a "level of knowledge" to allow hair to grow out of one's face amuses me somewhat... |
