I'm in agriculture and have worked in fisheries and both are pretty beard-friendly once you have the job (winter is cold!), but I wouldn't employ somebody who was too lazy to drag a razor over their face for the interview. See also: no tie. |

Perhaps it depends on your sector. My best mate through uni is in IT and has never really worried about his appearance. He has a massive bushy beard, but I always assumed IT was a whole world apart from anything else. |

If it's at a smart enough length and you prefer to have one then keep it.
I'm more likely to hire someone who looks confident, so go for whatever you're confident with.
Nothing wrong with a well kept beard, it can hide the baby face if you have one.

Yes. I'm not one for hacking jackets. Three button type. Smart trousers, check shirt and tie - smart but not "shooting season".

I think I'll keep it. It's a job that i didn't know about until yesterday, in a field I'm no expert in, however, they managed to get hold of my CV. And asked me along. I'm in employment at the moment so with nothing to lose (but my beard) i think I'll press on. |

Is growing a beard "slovenly"? Not shaving is i agree. But they aren't the same thing.
I've had beards (mostly in winter) and I'm aware of the "upkeep" (trim it once in a while). I couldn't see myself ever turning up to a job interview with one on my face though. Its really no effort to shave and then grow it back at a later date.
