Dear Friends, Fabbers and Forumites.
Lend me your wives,
(My excellent chum Duck of the Bay has that as his by line on his profile and it never fails to make me titter If you don’t know him ladies he is a perfecto gent and well worth jolly knowing)
Ekk one sentence in and I have digressed. Waffling on again heavens! Golly Gumdrops what a perfecto day to be off. The sun has most certainly got his bally hat on, and don’t we jolly well know it. Pooch and I have had the most superb romp all over the Great Orme, Llandudno. If you plan on visiting north wales it a must.
You can get a tram or cable car to the very summit. At the top they have all sorts of amusements and cater to all. I know at least one of you has written his name large in the stones at the top.
The sun was caressing our skin and fur as we bumbled our way to the top. The wild gorse, its yellow flowers casting their scent of coconut oil to the soft winds, a heavenly aroma. The sea shimmering still in the haze of sunlight. A rather magnificent spectacle .
At the top we indulged ourselves in some beverages and cake, Tea for me and The Pooch had a skinny Latte Mocca Chocca with a drizzle of cinnamon.
Heavens Try asking for that when you’re feeling jolly out of breath after a long hard accent.
This is now the reason for our posting. Whilst enjoying the view and our beverages we discussed the merits of tea and coffee. We both agree we do like both and as individual drinks they both have redeeming aspects. The bothersome question was though.
Why does coffee go colder quicker than tea?
Discuss and I would like your answers on my desk by no later than Friday
Taff and Pooch
We tried to keep it brief but it wasn’t happening !

Taff, I don't have an answer for you I'm afraid. I just wanted to say that I love reading your posts. They always seem to put a smile on my face. Even when I'm not feeling so smiley. So thank you so much. Xx
Oh, I almost forgot the lovely Pooch. A big doggy snuggle to him too. Xx |

I like both, coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. As to your question, I think coffee cools quicker because people tend to use more milk in coffee than tea. Saying that, I always warm the milk for coffee so it's a close call for the cooling period. |

Maybe depends on cup its in?
I'm drinking more and more coffee which is odd as I used to hate it, but I have whitener not milk so stays hot quite well.
I use one of those insulated cups with lids at work (bodum? ), works really well. |

Thanks for the big up, taff
Totally with Lola on this issue; tea is made on the boil, but coffee off as you don't want to scald the beans
But tea should, traditionally, be in porcelain which would allow it to cool more quickly |

"Tea should be made with boiling water and coffee off the boil. So the tea should always start hotter and cool longer. " good point but depends what tea your drinking eg tea latte from dolce gusto machines comes same temperature as coffee which i think is wrong but they still stay hotter longer than the coffees(brew geek alert) |

this.....
- which is, by the way one of the very few things that pisses me off in France; they can't make tea.
Apart from the fact that they call this bloody fruit nonsense (eg lemon and ginger, or blackberry and mint, or other crap) tea... They just don't get it that you put fucking boiling water on your Esrl Grey or Darjeeling, or Orange Pekoe.
I have given up trying to explain it to the lovely lady in my local cafe ; she still makes stuff that is like warm piss. Though her coffee is some of the best I have ever had....

Thanks chums its been vexing me all afternoon. I have just been to the dentist , I asked her and a straw poll of the people in the waiting room.
Lots agreeing that tea should be made with water on the boil. coffee having the milk in the cup before the water.
Though the receptionist threw tea pots into the mix and the pros and co s of heating the pot first and usage of a tea cozy .
I am going to email Prof Brian Cox and see what he jolly well has to say about the whole thing.
He always sounds so dashed knowledgeable on the wireless |

At this point far too many uncontrolled variables and un defined parameters
Cup shape size thickness , usually differ for said beverages
What is coffee ? Ground , filter , machine , expresso
What water to milk ratio and what fat content milk and at what temp
Was bag in cup or poured from warmed pot
Has a sweetening agent been added and in what quantity
How often has the beverage been stired and what is the wind speed and ambient temperature
Have chocolate sprinkles been sprinkled ?
Is the subjective temperature of cool the same for tea as coffee
Do coffee drinkers blow down their noses more as they drink or indeed is the first swig greater thus reducing the heat holding volume
And why do so many quality coffee drinkers like having said beverage extra hot?

Taff, I have no idea what you're putting in your tea!
Oh, and I've never noticed this phenomenon but that could be because I drink tea white and coffee black. |
