Best real ale + good food in central London

Got a client coming down next week, need to butter him up (without showing him my pussy) and he is into real ale, any suggestions of a top place in central London that also does great food - he is quite hot, but it's work

We are more into wine and gin

The Lamb & Flag in Floral Street Covent Garden is a fullers pub and I'm told the food is very good.

Maybe try somewhere around the London Bridge/Borough High Street area like The George, Barrow Boy and Banker or Hornimans.

The Beer In Evening website is worth checking out for pub reviews.

Alternatively, if you can persuade them to go to Camden then The Colonel Fawcett would be a great choice. And it's got a huge range of gin too.

The ship and shovel, it's in the arches behind charring cross. Black Heart in Camden is usually good too.

Try the red lion next to big Ben. Failing that the silver penny round corner on Whitehall nearer Trafalgar square. Neither are massively overpriced x

The seven stars in Carey Street behind the royal courts of Justice in the strand. Excellent food and a famous landlady Roxy Beaujolais

The Red Lion charges £1:20 for a bag of crisps so Christ knows what they'll charge for real food.

Tattershall is nice but no real ale.

If you want something different to eat then Cafe Pacifico in Lawley Street Covent Garden. Mexican food great atmosphere. Choice of pubs round there for real ale including the Salisbury
