"tomatoes, olives, balsamic, lots of oil, delicious.
or mushrooms..... with chopped parsely. Loads of oil. "
Both sound lovely.
I go to a cafe that does lovely mushrooms with parsley on soda bread.

"For me it's either marmite or homemade marmalade.
Sarah
You leave the marmite, homemade marmalade is always a winner for me."
I got a gift bag with different miniature marmalades and preserves for my birthday. Every morning I had to choose between them; it was very difficult. |

The correct answer is finely chopped onion mixed with grated red Leicester cheese combined with an beaten egg and a teaspoon of English mustard..... I large dollop of this mixture is placed on top of half a bread roll which is then placed in a hot oven until the topping melts and starts to colour.....
No grilling required... but it does add that special finish if you can still be arsed......
Salt and pepper optional...

If the toast is hot then it's simply Countrylife (cause you'll never have a better bit of butter on your knife!)
If the toast is allowed to go cold, then butter and marmalade - preferably thick fresh bread toast
Yum! |
