done both..

did weight watchers when it was points and remembered carrying my points calculator with me everywhere. it was calories vs saturated fat.

had to weigh things out.

do slimming world and stick to the extra easy plan. you get allocated an A choice (calcium) and B choice (fibre) rest is up to you.

3 parts to the plan.

Healthy Extras - (A & B choices)

Free foods - fruit and veg.. lean meats, fish, pulses..

Syns - (the sugars n fats).. and everything that isnt free. these do have to be weighed and measured)

I have done both although both some time ago.

I lost about a stone with ww in a year and put it back on straight away.

Sw I lost 2 stone in 6 weeks..But did put it back on over time (and had another baby!)

I did weight watchers a long time ago and lost 3.5st on it, it did work for me but you are only allocated a certain number of points a day.

With slimming world there are free foods that you can have as much of as you like, so you'll never feel hungry.

My sister used to go on and off weight watchers. I never noticed any change in her and she is heavier now than a few years ago. That's my only experience with it.

Lost 14 st with SW in 4 years and that's with two pregnancies during that time too. Two stone lighter than before falling pregnant after giving birth to my twins and 16lbs lighter than be for falling pregnant with my new little one, so I still lost healthy weight during pregnancy with it.

On WW I only lost a stone in two years it was crap

Speed foods come into your Free foods and they are the one you really want to stuff yourself silly on. It's advised to lay out your plate with 1/3 speed food and 2/3 free foods, but I personally do EE express and do 2/3 speed food and 1/3 free food, I always eat my speed first to fill up on that as opposed to free food it gets me fanastic losses.

If you prefer a more restricted way to do EE ask your consultant for an SAS log

Thanks ladies...

Looks like slimming sounds slightly more what I'm looking for with regard to keeping the weight off over a longer period...

I have managed to lose a stone since new year which was partly down to doing dry January but now I just need to keep the momentum going

Scientists have now proved two glasses of wine a day helps you to loose weight. If you green arrow to my "good news" post there's a link to the article on it

What are you trying to say? Lol !!

I think it depends on the calorific content of the alcohol rather than the volume...

If your usual tipple is gin n slimline tonic then I doubt you would lose that much compared to someone who drinks a couple of large glasses of wine in an evening...it's all relative!!

Plus I cut out chocolate and crisps as well

I'm not sure that there is an awful lot of difference between them. I think both rely on yoyo dieting for sustained income, to a great extent. I've not used them but had friends and associates who have and 90% of them lost a lot of weight and regained it. They've in some ways helped them to continue the yoyo weight loss and gain cycles.

I think the biggest part of it is finding which fits better into your life and which will be the most convenient for you (if you're going to go to a group) because then you don't have to feel like you're going out of your way or forcing yourself to do it. For me that's SW but for others it's probably WW. I think the two plans are becoming more similar than they used to be.

I think you're right as it has to be about lifestyle changes too. It's no good following a plan and then going back to your old eating habits. I've definitely been guilty of this in the past to be considered a yo-yo dieter. At the moment I am following Slimming World but with a view to maintaining healthier eating habits in the much longer term.

WE are on our 2nd go round with the 4 Hour Body Diet which a quick search will bring up.

I am down 12 lbs after three weeks, though to be fair it should be more as we had three days off as we were eating out for that time. Last go round I went from 15-7 to 12-3 and the wife from 13 odd to 9 st and a pound or three.

You can DL the book as a freebie, and it is cheap to eat on it. We like cheap and efficient.

Slimming world didn't suit me... I always put on weight and found it a struggle. Ww on the plan before the current one I loved. I hate the new one.

Lost over 10st twice with ww previously and as long as I was.sensible it stayed off. The moment I stop it piles on.

Neither is better... Both are fundamentally the same... Just depends what suits a person ..

You only yoyo if you let yourself

I've tried both, WW didn't work for me. I'm a SW target member and after loosing 2.5 stone have maintained my target weight for well over 18 months. Found SW fitted my family better as everyone enjoys the recipes with no need to cook separate meals for myself.

Understand why you are doing it. Give yourself a reason to do it. Then.. eat less move more and lay off the bread & sugar. Oh yeah and drink plenty of water.

Depends are they the male definition of lost, a child's definitions of lost or a woman's definition of lost?

I start my diet/exercise plan on Monday! Only 10lbs to lose but not expecting u it to be easy!

After all the positive comments I'm now tempted to give slimming world a try! Is it any good for those who don't have a lot to lose? X

I am doing well with weight watchers. The new plan is not just about dieting.....but looks at exercise and mood too. There is a no count option where you don't have to weigh or Do points and can have as much as you want of a large list of foods.

New smart points are efficient. It's worth considering.

From what I remember (back in the day) the minimum amount to lose used to be around the 10lb mark, I expect now it's calculated on BMI.

Sometimes the less you have to lose the harder it is to get the incentive, good luck

The 5:2 intermittent fasting diet is great if you can do the 2 consecutive fasting days. Helps weight loss and cell rejuvenation.

As long as you want to loose more 7lbs you can joined. When ever you want to set a target or change one at SW it has to be by at least 7lbs each time

did you do the old program... As I have found the smart points make it damned hard to stay on track with my lifestyle. Where as before I could quite easily eat out twice a week and still lose but on the new plan all my old favourites were no longer an option.

I am just doing pro points and not going to classes x

I would say the easiest way to lose weight is to have smaller portion sizes and to learn what carbs and fats are good and bad ones and only eat carbs with your breakfast and lunch and to start exercising that with healthy eating will help you drop weight even quicker then just changing what you eat
