House.
There isn't much of an attraction. We have dogs and live in a city so we went with the biggest place we could find that would allow dogs. One day we'll have a yard again, then I'll never move out.

Small terrace in an absolutely gorgeous location.
Was pretty fucked when we bought it but we've built a dormer on the attic and re done all the plastering and decorating including some new ceilings and boiler.
Paid £70k for it in 2014 and have spent around £8-9k on it, with now an estimated value of about £105k. We only owe £58k on it so would be quids in if we sold it. But after considering it and working out everything, we would never get a location like this for any sensible amount of money.
Would much rather stay without a massive mortgage.
It is an total bitch when it snows here though! Why people attempt to go down a 25% hill in snow I'll never know, these are the fuckers that caused my insurance to go up £300 when we moved here!! |

"Bungalow. Its great not to have to vacuum stairs "
Around where we are bungalows are worth an absolute fortune!
Even ones which need full renovation go for a decent wedge.
They always seem to erupt into a bidding war beyond the asking price. |

A cottage...in the middle of a country town! This is my mum's house though. I'm moving into a ground floor maisonette. Main attraction was the large garden and brick built shed to house my smelly rodents in! Plus it's cheap and i'm a first time buyer. |

A flat in the city centre, but with lots of gardenage, free parking and orchards. A rarity.
Cheap mortgage.
A nice Chinese chippy nearby makes it the perfect dwelling...for a single gal anyway! |

3 story house, built in 1885. Walls are about 1M thick, stone and a pain in the arse to drill into to hang things. Took 3 days to make a hole for kitchen extractor fan! |

"I live in an old tenement flat with high ceilings. I can see Arthur Seat out my front window, walk to work in the city centre and walk to the beach in the other direction. I love my flat. "
My cousin is walking distance to the city centre but not the beach!!! He's down near Meadowbank just off the London Road x
I live in a lovely semi on a large corner plot. I also have a whacking mortgage after buying the ex out but at least it's all mine (well about 48% of it!!) I'm close to Shugborough Hall & Cannock Chase which is all the countryside I need. I may (or may not!) downsize once youngest has his high school place & I've finished the jobs that need doing. I could be mortgage free if I didn't care where we lived |

A world of my own |
Cottage. I love it's old charm including Rayburn, wood burner, roll top bath and beams. It's right by a farm and it's everything I've ever wanted.
I just wish it was mine and not just rented |

Bungalow as it suits my needs. Dam hard getting a wheelchair up the stairs, easy coming down
Would have been mortgage free if hadn't taken some bad financial advice a few years back |

"I live in a bungalow i like just the one level and easy to maintain where do you live and what is the main attraction.
"
Yep totally agree - moved from a lovely Edwardian terrace with all its period features to a modern detached bungalow in the hills. Heaven - as you say, the maintenance is so much easier as are running costs etc. Never looked back to be honest (loved the character of the old place but cost a fortune to heat and maintain properly). |
