Telephone voices can be deceiving

Yesterday I rang a customer to ask for an appointment to go and see them. An old lady answered, very politely and said "yes, come as soon as you're free"

Anyway, off I go, and go in reception, and the receptionist is a very attractive young lady. I told them I was here to see Mr, and the lady answered "Yes, we are expecting you"

I couldn't believe that the young lady was speaking with the voice of an old lady. As I signed the visitors book I closed my eyes and just listened to her speaking. It was wierd, lol.

It has happened to us before too in a swing scenario, when we spoke to a couple on the phone before we exchanged pics. Our pics are usually on view, but this particular couple were hidden.

Isn't it funny how we perceive or imagine people to look? And how good is it sometimes when we are pleasantly surprised?

Spoke on the phone to what I thought was a lovely young man from this site....only to find he was in his early Fifties when I met him in a pub!

But did you enjoy the meeting - maybe after the initial disappointment. Personality is more important than age dont you think? xx

Before she got made redundant Tra was a corporate receptionist for a big american IT company. At work she sounded like a BBC newsreader ,at home she sounds like she works in Petticoat Lane

So true ...

When I was in the TV trade, one of the agents who worked for one of my my component suppliers down in Reading had a really tasty voice.

We really got on well on the phone, I always asked for her when I was ordering parts and we always had a good old chinwag, in fact we chatted each other up something rotton to the point where she was coming up here on a holiday and we were going to meet up for a drink. Up to that point I had no idea what she looked like.

Anyway one day she told me that the company was taking all their photos to go onto a calendar which was going to be distributed to their customers (Yeah that was in the day when suppliers gave you things for free, cups, keyrings, bottles of wine ...)

Jeezus Christ ! When I got that calendar ..... She was a guff and a half.

Thank God shorty after that she changed job and went to work for The Inland Revenue and we lost touch

Yes - telephone voices can be very deceiving

I thought his dad had turned up to tell me the son couldn't make it.....he never showed the slightest embarresment when I pointed out he couldn't possibly be the 33 year old he claimed to be.

If I ever get to write my swinging memoirs in years to come I have a few equally wacky experiences to divulge...

Funnily enough things like this never annoy me, they all club together to make this a memorable jorney.

I know what you mean Jack but on a slightley different tack. I have been in e-mail conversion in my place of work, corresponding with a customer. Whos name was Gabrille. I made an appointment to see her and was looking forward to our meeting. When i got there imagine my surprise to find Gabrille was a rough tufty bloke,

It is true that you start to 'put a face to' the person you speak regularly to on the phone....The girl I speak to every couple of weeks in Belgium sounds so sexy, but when the company sent me their new catalogue they had staff photos in the inside cover.....and she was not nearly as hot as I imagined her to be.

Sometimes people look far better than you would expect from a phone conversation. Its nice when it happens

I used to have a customer in Staffordshire and one of the girls I spoke to on a regular basis sounded so hot. Naturally we would chat each other up and flirt like mad and for about 9 months I never knew what she looked like, so I suggested we meet for a drink one day and she turned out to be drop dead gorgeous and the sex was amazing.

Unfortunatley she left the company shortly afterwards and we lost touch, but it was good while it lasted!!

Goes to show it can sometimes work out just like it does in your head lol

From a fan of Makka Pakka I find that a little weird.

I’ve done the telephone chat up when I used to me a manger at a tool company. Spoke for ages to a woman at a shoe company who worked on reception and we got on really well. She had a great personality and the picture I had in my mind…..

Well, she phoned one day after the driver had left and ordered a couple of urgent item and I said I’d deliver them. FFS I even combed my hair! Got to the company and walked into reception went up to the rather large and can I say fairly unattractive lady behind the desk. “Excuse me, Is Samantha here?”

She looked round and smiled. “I’m Samantha are you Pete” Thinking on my feet I told her I was called Pete but the one she was expecting couldn’t make it and that he told me to apologise… Not sure she believed me though, she must have had a pretty good idea what I sounded like. I didn’t even wait for her to sign the paperwork…

BUT… That is also why I never believe all this single guy crap when asked what turns them on about a woman. “Oh, it’s their personality/mind/outlook et al… Total crap! This lady had a great personality, but I could no more shag her than cut me knob off with a rusty razorblade. Perhaps there is another reason for em saying that??? lol
