I'm looking at a second hand car from a dealer. I want to get my local specialist garage to give it the once over but that will cost. I've done a free Mot check online, & I'm sure the garage will have done an Hpi check, but can anybody recommend the best website I can use to do some checks myself that might flag any problems up, saving me money for my garage to look. I've googled but they all say we're the cheapest & best. Any suggestions thanks? |

You use to be able to take the reg number and chassis number into your local police station.
They would check to see they matched and if the car was reported stolen.
Don't know if they still do in this age of cuts... |

Some of the cheaper checks DO NOT include any finance interest (so you risk paying out thousands and then having the car repossessed from you by its true owner i.e. the finance company) - ALWAYS make sure you do a full vehicle provenance check including financial interest - the only 2 really reliable ones are HPI and Experian Car Data Check in my experience. |
