As we all know valentines day is a load of rubbish, theres nothing less romantic than doing something for your other half simply because society dictates. Or if you're single then being force-fed loved up imagery is at the least irritating.
However lets remember that the concept of romance isn't dead so to remind us of this I am unilaterally declaring today valentines day!

Real romance is the mundane little things, like making a cup of tea for your loved one for when they wake up, or giving them the bigger portion of pudding, not that I can bring myself to do that very often

What is a 'proper' present? Don't think money, think thought. Don't think present, think presence. I'd have sometimes time and attention over something material any day not just valentines |

I used to buy cards n gifts. It was very difficult to give to someone that was so anti romance. There was just nothing!! If I mentioned romance at all was told. It's a waste of money!! |

I've had lost of romantic gestures in my time. My ex of 22 years was very good at being nice on Feb 14th and some other days.
It was the rest of the time I had problems

Jumped in a plane just to meet someone for dinner ......
Pulled back the bed covers and the bed was full of rose petals ..... We made love on them and then he ran a spa bath for me and then sprinkled all the rose petals all over me
Woke up to breakfast with a ticket to go to Paris that day just for coffee ....
So many beautiful memories.....
