Bad service that is...

Are you terribly British about it, sweep it under the carpet and end up apologising to whoever gave it.....

Or do you call them to account as soon as it is possible to do so?

Have to say I'm in the latter camp...

What about you?

Don't make a scene, shake it off, get out of there as soon as possible. Go home and slate them to every person that will listen. Or if I'm really mad and want to show my anger I'll place the money on the counter and not in their hands, that'll show em!

I always say if I'm not happy. Never used to be but I changed .Too many people are rude and and give poor service .If that's the case it needs to be resolved.

I tell them.

Don't have to be a bastard but honesty is the best policy.

I will tell them, politely of course, not shouting and swearing! I then won't leave a tip and when I get a chance at home, I leave a very honest review on TripAdvisor etc

I tell them straight out...

"Your service is shite" nice and loud so everyone hears.

I definitely say something. I've been told it's "very American of me."

If I'm paying for something, then I want the level of service that comes with that. Simple.

I'm not rude about it, but I'm very direct.

Depends what the service is for really and how bad it is.

I'm fairly chilled about some things but other things are unacceptable.

Central

It varies depending upon what I'm buying and the service elements that were bad.

I may just stop doing business with them.

Or a quiet word with the perpetrator of the dire service.

Or refuse to pay in full.

Or deal with someone with significant clout to serve me as I expect.

I organized a blitz at a kitchen/bathroom suppliers display office, after dreadful service given to an elderly relative. We deterred potential customers over a couple of weekends between us, as they failed to put right the resolution of some product errors. We quickly got listened to and their faults fixed.

I'm not too easily deterred and will go to most lengths to ensure a business gets a hit to their bottom line and reputation, when they fully refuse to be reasonable.

On the other hand, everyone is entitled to have off days, when it's less possible to be cheery and sharp with their service standards - so I tend to be warm and supportive and let minors float over my head.

When I was in NYC I thought about the level of customer service I received. In every single place I visited it made me think that the UK could learn a lot about customer service. A lot.

I speak up if something is wrong but having worked in a restaurant, there's a good way and a bad way to do that. Just because something is wrong, there's no need not to be polite about it. Especially given its probably not a lot to do with the person who is actually serving you. Being nice to people costs nothing and I've come across so many rude people when it's completely unnecessary.
