I thought race is a construct?
The most obvious characteristic (skin colour) being a very poor determinant of actual genetic variation/similarity.
For instance, although we like to dress it up the other way and say that 'black people are good at athletics' the truth of the matter is that a Zulu has more in common, genetically speaking, with white Europeans than someone from Ethiopia.
It's a red herring, to mix a metaphor... |

"Don't really watch telly.
What did I miss?"
It's presented by a guy who used to be Tony Blairs equality top dog. But ten years later and he's changed his mind on being hush hush about racial stereotypes. So it's an examination of some of the data behind it. Naturally some are a bit cherry picked... |

"Didn't he examine Turkish gang crime and how it originated from culturally clumping together everyone?."
Haven't quite finished it yet but I respect the gut for admitting he was wrong. He (and new Labour) had some pretty strange ideas on race that aren't backed up by facts. That said, Teresa May was on there making a tit of herself too so by no means a labour exclusive issue. |
