Remember moments from Disney movies that were so damn scary?
There have been moments that had us hiding behind the settee as kids and possibly still do today.
Disney movies like Return To Oz and Watcher In The Woods did have that affect on me as a kid but I usually left the room until that part was over.
Animated Disney movies never had that affect on me for some reason. I just never found cartoons scary but I did like the spooky stuff in cartoons.
I will admit there is one moment that gives me chills to this day and its the spindle scene in Sleeping Beauty. The music in that is downright creepy and to top it off, you have Maleficent in the fireplace and all you see is her eyes. How fucking scary is that? Its like she's looking right at you
Anyone have a scary moment from a Disney movie?

"The black cauldron (animated)
That gave me the creeps "
Yeah that movie was pretty dark and creepy especially the horned king who was kind of like a cross between Maleficent and Skeletor |

OMG I didn't half frighten myself earlier. Ever had a moment when a scary sound or voice pops into your head? Well what it was was Maleficent calling Aurora's name. The reason that creeped me out a bit is because I had a read along casette of sleeping beauty and I remember how creepy it was hearing that voice with the music playing in the background shudders |

"Maximillian putting his spinning hand through anthony perkins"
The ending of the black hole is pretty fucked up where it shows Reinhardt inside Maximilian for all eternity in Hell |

Eeeek. The Wheelers in Return to Oz, possibly the most sinister things ever to hit the silver screen since the weird twins in The Shining. That and the multiple heads calling out "Dorothy Vale. Dorothy Vale" in unison. On reflection, a rather unpleasant film. |

Yeah I get what you mean. It was pretty intense how all the heads scream while Mombi's original head is saying Dorothy Gale. The music doesn't help either |

Watcher in the woods was pretty scary as it was like a ghost story throughout the movie. The pov shots were very creepy especially the music accompanying it. |

Surely the scariest Disney moment must be when it was falsely reported Walt had his head chopped off and cryogenically frozen ......
I mean c'mon.... what sort of toy would that have inspired for the Disney store ......
Children would have cried.... |

Oh my... the hyenas & the Be Prepared sequence in The Lion King. I don't watch that film as half the time it makes me cry and the other half just scares me
Also, Jacob & Robert Marley in Muppet Christmas Carol used to really scare me, as did Blind Pew in Muppet Treasure Island. And the one-eyed doll head with the spider legs in Tou Story. Urgh! |

The queen's transformation in snow white is pretty scary for kids as it looks so trippy and is reminiscent of Dr jackle and Mr Hyde. And when it shows her face when she is the old hag, blimey that will scare any kid and adult. It never had that kind of effect on me as I thought it looked a bit cartoony to scare me |

Seeing that I did a thread recently on sad moments in Disney movies, I thought I'd bump this old thread I did on the scariest moments in Disney movies.
So feel free to share what scary Disney moment had you hiding behind the settee |
