It doesn't because week and weak mean entirely different things. Although they are both Germanic in origin they come from different root words.
Are you saying that because they sound the same they can influence us in some way. |

Today is Friday, originally Frigdaeg in old English and Veneris Deis in Latin.
In the Latin, it meant Day of Venus, the Roman goddess of love.
In the English it meant Frigga's Day, the Norse goddess Frigg - attributed with foreknowledge and wisdom - being none other than the wife of allfather Odin.
Well, anything to do with Odin kicks the shit out of the Romans, and if you argued with that, you got yourself blood-eagled, and therefore happy Friday! |

Sorry OP, but I'm definitely sticking with the concept of 'the end of the week' being linked to the word 'week' rather than the word 'weak'. I love words, etymologies, etc, and was taught Latin both for this, spelling and foreign languages.
On a similar note, are you aware of the most fascinating fact about word origins? Because it comes from an Amazonian, bird-worshipping tribe only discovered in the 1970s, the word 'gullible' doesn't appear in any pre-1980 dictionaries...
