So ladies and gents what are your views on lady's being able to propose on Feb 29th?
Is there any lady's that are thinking of proposing? How and where?
I,L won't be as am a traditionalist and think a man should do the honours and get down on one knee to propose if he truly wants to marry the love of his life!!
Think it's more romantic for a man to surprise the lady he wants to spend the rest of his life with by proposing marriage.
Good luck to those lady's that are proposing marriage, hope he says "yes".

One of my old teachers did as a joke, but he thought it was real and accepted! She didn't know what the hell to do. The engagement went ahead in the end as he told all his family the great news! |

If I remember correctly it was me who brought up the subject of marriage but neither of us actually proposed, we approached that in the same way we've approached everything blindly and with no knowledge whatsoever ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

No I'm not planning on asking Mr B as getting married doesn't appeal to me/us. We're happy as we are.
If I did want to get married then I'd have no problem doing the asking and getting down on one knee. I probably wouldn't wait for a leap year either. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I'd say that if a woman does it, it's cool for her but shameful for the man. |

I did to my ex husband 8 years ago, in the champagne bar at St. Pancras station after a lovely day out in London.
Why did I do it? Because after four years together and many discussions about getting married I was fed up of waiting for him to ask!
We were married the following year and stayed married for nearly five years.
This time around my hubby took me to the the Hatton flight of locks and we sat on the bench at the top. He surprised me with a haribo ring and made me cry with happiness. |

Marriage should be a joint decision. Pretty crap scenario to have either person down on one knee. Just more ridiculous game playing. Simpering woman waiting for her man to ask. Man trying to pick the right moment so she'll say yes. ![](/icons/s/2/vom.gif) |

I have to admit that I just badgered my husband to say yes to getting married one night when he had to be up early for work. I started badgering late on i think he only agreed to get some sleep. I think we are still blissfully happy 8 married years later ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Well imagine if you woke up in the night and there was a burglar in your house. If your woman beat up the burglar then she'd be a bad ass chick. But you'd be a bit of a pussy for not stepping up to the mark first. Same principle. |

Fair enough if that's your view. I'd say that's a very tenuous link at best between the two scenarios, but I understand what you're saying. Personally I have no problem if the woman asks the man to marry her. I suppose it depends on how important the 'traditional roles' are in genders to someone. I also have no problem with a woman asking a man out and making the first move, but that's me

I don't really get concerned with what other people are doing so if a man is happy being proposed to then he can fill his boots. But if he was a mate I'd tell him he was a pussy and if he was a stranger I'd make a vague comment like "oh, very modern". Not that there's any particular reason for them to give a crap what my opinion of the situation is. |
