Found this to be a great help now I'm walking to get fit but found it a little scary when looking at some of the options... Many local people to Me seem to log there walk from their home address ( ok not quite to the house but close enough ) and do there walks regularly..
Maybe I just worry but I have made my daughter set hers to private as I have.
Does anyone else think that most aps seem to share far to much of you don't set it to private x |

I use Map My run, my profile is set to private as I neither care about other peoples running habits, nor do I wish them to start stalking me as I run quite late at night.
But it was a little while before I figured out stuff like that which is quite scary. |

That was my worry. I had a look at the ap before I went on it and realised that it wants to Share a lot.... I tend to go early or after dark ( don't really want to be seen lol ) x |

There was a spate of burglaries in America of professional cyclist's homes. Sites like this made their home addresses obvious and their race schedules made it clear when the houses were empty |

Whenever I see peoples Map My Walk/Run/Cycle/Jog/Hop etc on their Facebook timelines, it shows that they don't ever get anywhere, they just do a big circle from home and return back to exactly the same place they started. Whats the point of that?!
How about a "Map my shag"? |

I use strava, not only can you make the area around your home private you can set your whole profile so only those you are friends with can see your activities, |

I've recently started using it and never even occurred to me about privacy of my home. But I tend to walk away from home. I find it quite motivational and a little scary when my pocket starts talking to me when I'm out alone! |

Yes all of the above but slightly going off topic but in the same field you may or may not use a tachometer for logging a distance I often clamp one to my belt Its seems lately a mile gets longer every year.. thou my leg muscles let me know that. |

"+1 for strava, although I always start away from the house and never in the same place. two people I know have had expensive bikes stolen this way."
Good point,I use Walk and Ride. I'll check my settings. Then again, I live in a three storey fortress (flat) that I can barely get my bike in and out of. |

"I use strava, it gives you the option of keeping 50 meters around your home address as a blank."
I didn't know you can do that. Is it only for the premium account? |
