Again not a couple, but cradley heathens were a big part if my childhood, and Birmingham brummies will probably feature in my sons when he's old enough

Menston near Ilkley

I went to Halifax speedway in my youth, my mates and I bagged a place right on the corner.

After the first lap we realised why it was empty and picked out the cinders from our faces.

Used to follow Edinburgh Monarchs in the late 70s and through the 80s. Was always a good Friday family night out. The smell of chocolate from the Rowntrees factory next door was incredible!

Haven't been since the team moved out to deepest, darkest Armadale.

Have been a couple of times to see the monarchs at Armadale. For a few quid extra you can get into the VIP portacabin for a free bar and finger buffet. A great night out really.

Ma dad used to take me to Long Eaton Speedway Track when I was a kid and I went a fair bit in the 80's & 90's, absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it closed in 1997 and now the Invaders have their home matches at Beaumont Leys in Leicester which is a bit of a trek for me

They are however still searching for a suitable location to build a new stadium in Long Eaton again

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

My parents and elder sister were regulars at Wimborne Road Stadium (Poole Pirates) when Ken Middleditch, Neil Middleditch`s father, was riding. Ken still have has a salvage goods sales establishment 3 miles away from home and can still be occasionally seen in the shop along with his wife Bridget when things get busy or short handed. Neil, of course, also rode for Poole, is still manager for them and I don`t know if he still is, but was England manager for a while.

Going back a bit and just before Neil started riding, Poole`s star rider for a few years was Malcolm Simmonds or Super Simmo as all the local fans knew him as!

I used to watch Leicester race when they were at Blackbird road and was thrilled when the new place opened a few years ago. We went lots at first but the car parking is rubish and often the walk from where we parked was far to long for me to manage, even walking from the car park was to much and they wouldnt allow us to park closer so we stopped going.

However we are avid followers of the GP and go to Cardiff every year .... love it

Cardiff bound ... Seems a long time to wait , meanwhile Perry Barr for a new chapter in The Brummies story. Including a woman rider in the development squad, can't wait.
