On my way home from work this evening, I was stopped in traffic behind a 15 plate Astra. My thoughts wandered back to the Mk1 I had many moons ago, and I was struck by how cars have grown over the years. I mean, this astra's arse end was HUGE for the size of car. There were 2 occupants, and they seemed to have been a long way away from the side of the car. Possibly a safety design? Dunno.
In my younger days I also had a Mk1 golf and scirocco (wish I still had them!), and they seem to have piled on the bulges too in their latest incarnation.
Anyone else ever been struck by this, or am I just getting old? |

Very true. Forgot about them.
Not so much a Mini as a Maxi. But that particular name doesnt exactly have the best reputation amongst those over, shall we say, a certain age  |
