I don't hate it, I just find it sad that people need a specific date to tell someone how they feel.
I would find receiving flowers, a card etc much more romantic if I received them on any day except Valentine's Day. |

There are arguments for and against.
Compared to a lot of days dedicated to some silly things, I don't think a day dedicated to love is particularly a bad thing. |

It is pretty sad that we have this one day that we are supposed to use to show our love for someone. It is essentially bollocks and has well and truly turned into yet another moneymaking day for certain industries. We should, and many do, show their partners love everyday which is how it should be.
That being said, it's always good to show a little love and appreciation in this world. And just one day I'd love to receive a card!
Ps. Thanks to the forumite who offered to send me my first ever Valentine's Day card. The offer was very much appreciated  |

I'm using the day to show the love I have for myself a nice meal a bottle of bubbles and some good old love films on the TV. For me it's a sign that until the right one comes along that I'm happy and content on my own. |

I like Valentine's Day. I think it's sweet to remind people to be happy together and to love. It may be a sad that it's necessary, but maybe it is a bit useful.
I just don't buy into the commercialism. We don't buy presents or chocolates or go out to fancy dinners. We make eachother a meal, and we spend a day together with our dogs.
And it's simply nice.

What i don't understand is, everyone says its a money making racket. I agree. People shouldn't be celebrating their love for others on one particular day. I agree. You should be loved and appreciated all year round. I agree.
It can make singles feel lonely. I agree.
But this is exactly the same as mothers day yet I never here anyone complain about mothers day. (Swap the singles feeling lonely to people whose mothers have died) |

I'm glad to be single on valentines, but I wouldn't ban it, on Saturday my daughter bought a valentines day card, I know who its for, and she gave me the look that says "dont make a big deal about this" its the sweetest thing I've ever seen on st hallmark day |

sounds rather loverly except for the soppy love films a mixed variety is more like it
the bubberly sounds nice saves getting up to do the cuppas and means plenty more cudderling |

Why are red love hearts silly? Sure, there's more of them, but there's more of any type of festive iconography around any festival...
And I don't think I've ever heard of any couple that purposefully hold hands more on Valentine's Day, then stop on other days of the year.;) So that number should actually be about the same... Lol

When i was a lad lol. It was used to secretly let someone know that you fancied them and see if they liked you too..... none of this sending cards/gifts to wives & girlfriends, it was more of a secret admiration |

It's not important to me one way or the other, even when I'm in a relationship.
It's an over-priced Hallmark holiday.
I'm flattered if I get Valentine's but definitely not crushed if I don't. |
