I realise that a forum on a swingers website possibly won't bring out the most religious of users, but will anyone be doing anything for Lent?

For me, the diet will ramp up a notch, no alcohol and the penny jar comes out for any coins.

Maybe the entire site could be persuaded to give up sex for Lent?

Giving up crisps and chocolate (not that I'm really eating much of either at the moment) and trying to cut back on the casual swearing.

Chams or Socials

Being the good Catholic girl that I am I'm continuing with not buying a latte on the way to work. Funds saved going towards the costs of my brother's wedding!!!

I used to be a Sunday school teacher before fab (yep - I know!) so generally gave up alcohol for lent - and very occasionally chocolate (which I found a lot harder to give up than alcohol). Was always slightly peed off as I never lost any weight doing it - and I doubt God was up there going 'yaaay - go you!'

Yep I always stick to my Lenten promise and this year it's to give up chocolate and cake - except on Mother's Day

As a Christian I think that Lent is a time to either challenge oneselfb through either denial of something you take pleasure from (I'm giving up energy drinks for six weeks which is going to be a bugger) or by using the time to do something positive in your life to either improve oneself physically/spiritually (i.e dieting/prayer or meditation) or To Things which will improve the lives of those less fortunate (giving or volunteering to charity).

We do the proper, strict 500 calorie 5:2 diet in Lent, so hopefully this year could be the first time our scales go below 10 stone in over two decades

(Plus, obvs, I spend 47 days griping that them Catholics somehow extended Lent into Holy Week )

I've already give up plenty recently (nicotine, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, cake) so nothing in particular but I'm going to make an effort to try and drink less.

No. None of that bobbins here.

But more importantly, when does Lent actually finish? I mean, alcohol bans?

Lent ends just before evening mass on Maundy Thursday, then the Easter Triduum begins. Lenten fasting/promises don't end until Easter Saturday though

I've always felt that was cheating

I nearly asked whether we should apply to get the extra day of 29th Feb off too, until I actually had to count the days on the calendar before I realised it didn't actually make Lent longer...

I only found out about the Sunday's off thing last year. I reckon I've got at least 2 Lents worth of Sunday's in the bank.

I think the 'Sundays off' thing is only OCD protestants trying to get the maths to work.

The one day off a week diet works if you operate on a low carb or ketogenic (no/trace carb diet). It allows your body to use body fat as fuel instead of carbs. You then refill with carbs. The body will still use bodyfat for an energy source then will switch for a day. You will then enter back into ketosis after a couple of days. It allows people to lose bodyfat without the body burning muscle as energy.

Fat Saturday often consists of pizza and Hag n daz.
