Saw the film.
I think that at times like that, the brain can become extraordinarily rational.
A friend of mine died this week, and his wife is being hugely practical and sensible and organised, which seems to me to be a similar response.
It's still tough to watch.

I read the book Between a rock and a hard place and Joe Simpson's Touching the Void.
Both books help me personally to keep my life in perspective, nothing in my life can be so bad compared to their experiences.
It's also uplifting to know they triumph over adversity. xx |

Touching the void was awesome too,but I could'nt help but be amazed at the series of events....first his mate cuts him free to save his own life and assumes his mate is dead,then burns all the poor guys clothes in some sort of ritual goodbye,all the while his mate is struggling back to camp with a broken leg and ends up crawling through a bloody sess pit just as he gets to safety .......poor man  |

horizon this week was about pain and featured a guy who cut his arm off after it was trapped by some heating vents/pipes. It looked at the brains ability to turn itself off from pain signals in different situations, or not in others.
not sure the films for me...i've heard its very graphic! |

i have been told its 1.50 mins of tedium and ten mins of getting to the point of him cutting his arm of with a pen knife, which is really what everybody wants to see. Think i will wait to down load it of easynews.
I once got my knob caught in my zip maybe i am a coward but i did not feel the urge to go cutting it of with a rusty pen knife. I plucked up the courage to go to accident and emergency with a bag on my head  |

I've seen it, and yes there is one obvious part of the film that is graphic.
It is a good film..... but I found it dragged on too long and I got bored before the end and was looking at my watch a lot.
I presume everyone knows the story so I won't be giving away any secrets by saying the following...

The whole arm, rock incident happens after 15 minutes. The film is 1h30 long and only the final 5 minutes or so are after he's released himself. So that leaves about 1h10 of him being stuck. I already knew what happens in the film, so I was just wishing he'd get a move on and cut the bugger off so we could all go home.
Yeah, it's interesting for a bit to see him hallucinating, and to understand a bit about his previous relationships, yada yada yada... but that gets very boring after a while.
I think it would have been better if it was maybe 20-30 minutes shorter - although I imagine everyone would be up in arms (no pun intended) if they'd paid money to see a film that was so short.
Although I'm glad I saw it, I think it may be one of those films that it's not necessary to see at the cinema and wait until it's on Sky Movies to catch it or rent the DVD from Blockbuster for a few quid.

Well we enjoyed it. Don't usually like actors like Seth Rogen but he was really funny. |
