same really.

videogames(retro and nintendo..not really been that interested in the new ps4/xbox/wiiu stuff),sci-fi,movies,art,photography,nature,animals.

but I'd say its far removed from the geekiness that once was, i.e the loner obsessive type..

though I never read comics(I sometimes draw characters though, mainly in doodles while working lol)

yes in a way, there are games designed for every one.

I find it odd in most cases people wont use their tv to its full potential..watch the odd movie a couple nights a week. Most of the time watch shit daily telly.

why not INTERACT?- most games are interactive movies.

*I'll point out I'm not a huge fan of the online multiplayer war matches..I prefer story driven games.

I agree, Marvel and DC has become more mainstream now with the release of the various movies over the last decade. The video games industry is just as big as the movie industry now, with big games releases making just as much if not more money than big box office film hits.

"How do you get into that sort of thing?

Which sort of thing? Cons, or cosplay?

Hosting threads at cons, I'm very much into lots of fandoms and that would be a great way of getting to more cons and meeting other likeminded people

Last year I approached someone who runs a track and asked how I'd go about applying. They gave me an email address and I sent them out suggestions. They've emailed back to say they're interested, I just need to sort out my team "

How do you pick your team?

My friends and I discussed running a track at the end of last year's Nine Worlds, then created an FB group where we discussed our ideas for what to do. We're looking at having 3/4 different things, so we'll see how that goes

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I used to play D&D, love sci-fi and fantasy, both books and films, as well as superhero films. I read 2000AD for a while and have some Slaine and Judge Dredd graphic novels, as well as all three Halo Jones graphic novels. I am a huge Studio Ghibli fan, and also love Chinese foreign language films. I watch and enjoy most science and astronomy programmes. And, to top it all, I'm a New Age music and Prog Rock fan.

I'm a down low geek. I pursue technology breakthroughs and developments with a keen interest. Not mastered my tv, bluray player etc yet though - I need an expert to come round and manhandle it all, pushing the right things fully in.

Geek and proud, when your choice of evening entertainment is either Minecraft, sto or a movie involving robots or superhero you have to be proud of it

I currently have one tab open of a youtube video with a walkthrough to the first level of Xcom 2, another tab with a half watched episode of the Simpsons, I have World of Warships minimised and I'm currently contemplating whether to play ArmA 3 or Wargames: European Escalation next. I built my own water-cooled system (pride and joy), which is housed in an all aluminium anodised micro ATX case (which I imported from Germany). Typing this post on my Corsair K70 keyboard (yeah, never really bought into the whole mechanical keyboard hype), on my silver AOC 27" LED monitor (it had to be silver to match the case, of course), under which I have on display 4 toy plastic tanks (a Leopard 1, a T-34, an M1A1 Abrams and a Chinese PGZ-07 self propelled AA gun).

Oh and there's an empty 14" pizza box on my bedroom floor, should none of that be enough to class me as a 'geek'

I used to love model making, and it was the models which attracted me to Warhammer. A mate sold me his bog standard, cheap as chips Blood Angel army. I didn't care about the game, I just wanted the cool models to paint. I still stop and admire the models they have on display in games workshop windows.

On cultural criticism and how it should be tackled.

"I always wanted to try 40k at school, but it looked expensive.

Any d&d or pathfinder players here?

B"

I used to be a big D&D player (1st & 2nd editions), and come to think of it, any other RPG out there... Starwars, Call of Cthulhu, Judge Dredd, Ars Magica, Warhammer FRPG, to name a few. D&D was by far my favourite and most popular among my RPG circle of friends.

Now I make do with any fantasy book I can get my hands on to get my fix.

"Always watching twitch TV for streaming lol"

See I watch YouTube vids by a few gaming YouTubers I'm subscribed to but I've yet to find the attraction to live streaming, and Twitch. One of my colleagues swears by it and rushes home to watch competitive play sometimes.

Lol it says something that I've joined a swinging site and the first subject I look for (and post on) in the forums is one about geekery!

I am a big Marvel / DC fan and enjoy watching most of the geek-related SF shows on TV. Lately I've also developed quite a passion for Lego building.

Gamewise I don't do much but I am totally addicted to playing Fallout Shelter on my phone.

Started painting war hammer last year, started off with the LOTR sets. Found in actually pretty good at it and making decent bases just need strong glue.

Buy already painted models off eBay, leave to to soak in dettol and the paint comes off really easily.

One last thing....SKYRIM
