OK so our big mortgage is up in June this year, and like many we got caught in the endowment miss selling lark. However with ours we could not claim because the date set by the government was 1988 and ours was taken out in 1986. So the mortgage company and the ombudsmen basically said tough shit, your problem!
Anyway that mortage was promised to not only pay off the house but deliver us a 19 grand lump sum towards retirement. It currently is short by 11 grand to even pay off the mortgage! Good job we have used it as a savings plan and made alternative arrangements to pay off the house.
Two years later we took out a smaller endowment (before the miss selling hit the fan) £2500 to fit double glazing. Got a statement for that today and not only is it on track to pay out but also pay a profit!!
Now what can we blow the £100 profit on? world cruise?  |
