Hiya everyone,
So, I am performing a wee experiment and I would like all of your help with it.
Basically, I am going to give you six weather combinations. Could you each put them in order of preference, with the top being the combination you would most prefer and the bottom being what you most dislike? Thank you kindly.

Couldnt make up my mind if I preferred sunny/cold to rainy/warm but in the end decided I like the sun more than the rain here in the UK - in hotter climates tropical rain is a different story, saw some fantastic storms in Mexico, and watching them from the beach bar was spectacular.

"When do we find out the result of the experiment?
Never mind that....i want to know what the experiment even is!
That as well"
I can't say what it is because I don't want to bias the results. It has to do with a book I'm reading by a British anthropologist. I'm trying to replicate his data. Nothing too exciting, but it's interesting to me.
I'll divulge once the thread seems to have died. I'd like as many participants as I can get first, though

Oops! I've been ill today so I haven't had time to analyze the results. I'll do it tonight.
But essentially, an English anthropologist whose book I'm reaching about British people said that the brits have a very clear weather hierarchy. I disagreed with the hierarchy, but I'm not British So I wanted to see what you all would say. I will compare the results against his hierarchical list and let you all know.

for me, anyway. If Rainy/Hot had been an option that would have got the middle spot. I like warm but don't do hot very well. |

I don't have a preference as I prefer not to have my mood controlled by that which I cannot control
I may have specific preference depending on a particular activity I have planned but those activities vary thus so would the preference xx next week I'd prefer snow and very cold after that all I'd prefer is that no humans suffer from the weather
I'd prefer the weather be changeable and me adaptable and happy in all weather circumstances

But I think there is a list of two
Lovely and sunny
Miserable day
I may concede,
Sunny but a bit cold as a third

OK, thanks everyone for participating
As I have explained, I am reading a book by an anthropologist who studies British behavior. The anthropologist said that the British have a very clear order in which they like the weather. The order the anthropologist claimed was:
Sunny/Warm
Sunny/Cold
Cloudy/Warm
Cloudy/Cold
Rainy/Warm
Rainy/Cold
The significant point being that British people rank the clarity of the skies over the temperature of the air.
What I have found in this thread is that the following order was overwhelmingly preferred:
Sunny/Warm
Cloudy/Warm
Sunny/Cold
Rainy/Warm
Cloudy/Cold
Rainy/Cold
So this directly refutes the anthropologist's findings. Granted, my sample size was only 33 participants, but the results were pretty clear cut. I was a bit surprised that Rainy/Warm beat out Cloudy/Cold, but otherwise, it was as expected. And I think it shows that temperature wins over clarity of skies in most cases.
Only 5 of the 33 participants gave the combination noted by the anthropologist
Thanks again, all!

Rainy/Warm is a great combination. Those gorgeous summer rainstorms when it just buckets down (even better when it's thundering as well) that release all those smells and ozone into the air. I love them. Probably because they're rare; if I was getting soaked to the skin every day of summer I would probably have it. |

One person gave Rainy/Warm as last.
Every single other person gave Rainy/Cold as last. |

Hmmm interesting. Would like to know the title of the book if possible. Do you have an inherent interest in British behaviour then Courtney? Should we be worried at all? |
