So sir has set me a challenge to complete this morning should be simple enough but the kids are in and out of my room every 5 seconds..... If it was so infuriating it would be funny.... It's almost as if they have a radar of stopping their mum having fun

Does anyone else have this trouble lol

Maybe they want some attention from their mother. There's always after they have gone to bed.

In our eyes kids should be sorted first. We only ever manage a quick thing if he has a movie on and he's set with some snacks/juice. Even then he wants one of us cuddling him.

It's a Sunday morning, if she wants to let the kids entertain themselves for half an hour and look after herself then good luck.

My kids are my life, but sometimes I think they can have 5 mins without my undivided attention.

Absolutely. We all need time out....but i wouldn't be planning to do anything sexual with my kids around. It just doesn't seem appropriate. Like i said there is always after they have gone to bed

This is a situation where I feel that spontenaity and the thrill of a quick fumble take a back seat with kids about , whatever age they are .

I'm not gonna get on a high horse and start saying you shouldn't have fun with kids in the house , because that's sycophantic bullshit . How would you have more than one kid if you apply that rule ? Would anyone seriously say that only have sex when they get sitters and go out , or when they know for sure the kids won't wake up at night ?

It's any wonder a recent survey said 49% of people don't have sex once a week !

The op is a bit frustrated that she wants a bit of fun on a Sunday morning and the kids seem to have a radar that stops her . Nothing wrong there . I would tell them to get outside and get some exercise , leave me alone for an hour and crack on .

OP I'm not in your kind of 'relationship' with a Sir to answer to so I won't pretend to know if the time constraint is an important factor or not.

What I will add though is, you've just reminded me that I have a little challenge to still do (as a result of losing a bet, grrrr!) but I haven't had any feasible time to myself in the last few weeks to make it happen.

Hopefully he won't think WTF is this when he gets it 6 months later....

I do agree, there's a limit to what you should do while the kids are around. But I feel people need to chill out a little bit with their comments. I got the feeling that she wanted to take a quick rude selfie. Not tie herself to the bed and be abused while the kids played with knives and filled the chip pan over a third full.

Wow!

So the long and short of it is that once you have kids your sex life is over?!

It really does astound me just how judgemental people are here. At no point did the OP sound like she was neglecting her kids. Nor did she state what the challenge is yet it's inappropriate to be having any sort of nookie when the kids are around?

I've witnessed my parents snogging like teenagers hundreds of times throughout my life and I've gone home early and caught them up to no good. I still catch them canoodling in the kitchen when I visit. They're 75 years old and if I'm able to do that with my other half (should I ever have one) then I would hope that I would be showing a reasonable amount of affection and physical displays of it.

You're all bonkers! Lighten up... we're adults and you're not Judge Rinder or Judy or whoever else you think you are up there on the moral high ground.

Have you never tried to have quiet sex cause you had visitors or were staying with your parents or after the kids have gone to bed? Sex isn't something that needs to be flaunted but nor should it be taboo or something dirty that isn't talked about. Blimey!

You are so wrong here. Children should not think adults (or anyone else) is allowed time out or a life of their own.

The world revolves around your children and all parents must back that up so that we can have a whole fucked up generation of selfish cunts.

**My sarcasm is also smeared with disgust that children are supposed to be the centre of fucking everything, wtf are you doing to your kids people?**

Incidentally I feel that whoever sets a task should also be aware that it might not be possible to carry it out if you have kids about. The op usually has that in place.

We all deserve a bit of personal time, but family, work and home life comes first.

And as for chats, challenges (or whatever) I'm busy and the people i know on here are similarly busy, so I think we understand when we can't always respond quickly.

In the past I've set time-bound challenges, but have checked availability first

In total agreement on this with you DG

As a single mum my son's are of course my world. And I reckon we all parent in the ways that work for us. They may not be everyone's style but im quite sure no one would ever put their family at risk.

Sometimes people really do need to lighten up. Instead though it often feels folk intentionally look for a fight. It's quite sad.

It's totally acceptable to have your own needs and wants despite being a carer for someone else. Unfortunately society hasn't quite grasped the concept of being a mother means you are a person in your own right.

Feel quite sad about the attacks on OP for joking about something that might otherwise have frustrated her if she hadn't joked about it. At least she didn't take it out on the kids and came here for some relief instead.

I also feel sad that society thinks being a mother means your own life ends.

Maybe i was about brash pointing that out before but fuck it. If i wasn't such a bitch then something like the attacks on OP would actually make me cry.

Yeah I think we're probably saying the same thing albeit I had a good old rant that wasn't actually directed at anyone in particular but I just feel this happens too often.

Everything seems to be taken literally when really, I'm pretty sure lots of people don't get a bit of time to drink a coffee in peace or go for a piss without the shouts of 'Muuuuum' and I generally think there's no need to appear like we're looking down our noses or insinuating that someone is a bad parent. It's not just this thread, it happens a lot and it makes me sad that someone can't post a topic for a little light relief without it causing indignation and scathing responses in such a serious way.

It's a shame is all. Forums used to be much more fun.
