"a girl I managed called in to say she wouldn't be in as her hamster had died.
she was 23.
"
.
A pet is part of the family, and she could be very attached to her hamster, so I can understand.
If something happens to my cat or dog, I too would be very upset. |

"not technically a sickie but a someone once rang in to say she culdnt come in cos her cat pissed on her trousers and she only had one pair of work trouser "
Thats made me chuckle
Someone once rang in sick because her husbands snoring had kept her awake and she could'nt possibly come in as she was too tired |

"My mate knew someone who worked in a hospital & got them to put his arm in plaster. Got him 3 weeks in the pub!"
How does that work??
YOu have to submit a sick note after five days ?
Does he have a doc for a mate too ? |

Think it's taken as read that you're unfit for work with an arm in plaster, especially on a building site! |

I think that it's technically stealing from your employers but everyone must have done this at least once or twice in their lives! It's not something I need to do as if I'm feeling a bit under the weather I just work from home! A chap I worked with many years ago got a week off as hig granny had died - e was spotted in town with her a few months later - doh! Z |
