A lovely lady who has work at same machine for 30 years. Wanted her hallway decorated. A bloke from work suggested she uses his brother who charged her £290 she brought the paint. Now she wants her kitchen doing the bloke said he will do it for £3000 but she has to buy all the cupboard ect.

She is far to soft to say no dispite have quotes for half the price. Does my head in how some one can take advantage of a kind lady. Xx sorry had to rant

He only gave her a price she doesn't have to take it

Why did she get other quotes if she's not going to use them?

Sit her down and have a chat with her. Maybe have a chat with the bloke from work too and suggest he speaks to his brother.

I don't mean be threatening, just point out to him his brother is taking the piss and him recommending him to a lady who is liked at work may end up reflecting badly on him.

And point out to her she can get almost certainly get a better job done for far less money and she's not a charity. It's her call obviously but maybe she needs a bit of encouragement to stand up for herself.

She knows she could get it done more cheaply but is choosing to pay the higher price, she isn't being taken advantage of she's walking into it with her eyes open.

I sympathise with her situation to an extent but the answer is in her own hands.

she maybe being taking advantage off, workmate promoting his brother, probably saying painting was a good job, even thou i think 290 labor only seems high if its a average kichen, i had lounge stairs and landing done for 300, also you never know workmate may get a backhander, ie put 100 quid on for me

Surely it depends on how big the hall is, how big the kitchen is and what services etc have to be moved, whether tiling is included etc.

It's impossible to make any sort of sensible comment other than tell her to get several quotes for the SAME specification.
