Chickens have simpler brains that you or I OP, they don't have reasons for doing anything, only instinct.

So, if a chicken did cross the road is was probably to eat, escape danger, to procreate, to sleep or to shit.

I thought you said chickens had simpler brains? I'm not sure I would cross a road for many other reasons either!
