Old git requires Tech advice.......
I am peed off with my current phone, a Samsung Galaxy young (it was very cheap, so I got what I paid for). Biggest gripes are battery life and size of screen buttons being too small for my stubby fingers.
I only use the phone for calls, texts and checking incoming emails (I send emails from home PCs etc). I use virtually no apps, apart from Bbc weather and occasionally need to look up an address on Google. I don't give a mouse sized shit about fashion.
My job involves working in some dusty/humid environments, but I don't need a bomb proof phone.
I do need decent battery life, at least two or three days (with very little actual use in that period) , and Bluetooth for hands free.
So, after all that , I'm looking for a new handset to use with my Tesco sim only deal. I'd prefer second hand, to save money.
Yes, I'm after a grandad phone.
Any advice / suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks alll

"Also, batteries tested for 2015 phones were:
Galaxy S6: 14.4 hours
LG G4: 11 hours
HTC One M9: 8.5 hours
iPhone 6: 17.5 hours
iPhone 6 Plus: 23 hours"
But is that just on standby, or with "average" use etc. ?
Grab a power bank whilst you're at it and you can carry a back up supply
Not all phones have replaceable batteries now |

Projected usage (not solid watching movies though). You can get batteries replaced for phones with "sealed" backs in lots of shops, you just may not be able to do it yourself confidently. |

I have HTC one x and it's a brilliant phone. It's high end. The battery lasts about a day at the most. I have to charge it every night.
I'm a fairly heavy user. |

If you almost never look at your phone, it'll be fine. If you check it every hour or so and make a few calls a day, you'll need to charge it nightly.
Perhaps buy a 20,000 mah battery pack to keep on hand if you don't want to charge it every night. |

My mate had a htc and she swears by it. It lasts for days without her having to charge it and I must say her camera is much better on it than the iPhone 6 Plus I have.
Much as I love my phone when my contract is done I will look at moving to another brand. I think Apple are slipping standards now to be honest for example I don't think the camera is all its supposed to be. The picture quality isn't that good, some apps downloaded have better cameras.
Also Xmas I was bought a ted baker cover soon as I put it on signal went, spoke to Apple who didn't shed any ideas only the cover should be sent back!.
I don't feel after paying £700 for a phone and £50 cover it should happen.
It's a silly niggle to be honest but annoying |

I have the Z3 compact. 1. It uses the battery differently to other smart phones as it only operates in 720 until HD is needed. 2. the batter is Huge for it's size. If you turn off app updates (all those internal bloats that download everytime you turn your wifi on) you will get 3 Days between charges.
Great reception and a quick phone toboot - few years old too so you should be able to pick one up cheap. Dust proof, water proof, shock proof, expandable memory. Get a roxfit case and you'll be laughing. |
