I know a few people who send winks just to gauge if there is a mutual interest but apart from that what is the point of them?
oftentimes they are sent to me by either someone who is not what I'm looking for and just chancing their luck, or by someone who is what I'm looking for but is miles away...
I rarely wink back (and if I do its usually 3 weeks later) and every so often I clear them anyway...
I also get follow up messages to winks I didn't respond to either....there are some impatient f***ers about
as I don't see the point of them I am all for getting rid
thoughts or views please? |

Any admiration is always lovely to receive...winks or otherwise. I send them if we think someone is lovely, but a true meet is unlikely for geographical reasons or otherwise. Or words escape me (a rare occurrence granted!!) I think they have their place.

I don't really know what to do with a wink. It's kind of asking me to message them, though I am being hypocritical as I have sent one or two!
Harmless but slightly ineffective is how I'd describe them. |

It does seem a little lazy sometimes...Kind of like 'we might be interested in you but can't quite summon up the enthusiasm to write you a message'. On the other hand, being the positive and outgoing primates that we are, we tend to check them out, preferring to interpret them as 'we've looked at you - why not look at us?', and they often result in us messaging. Unless we've been winked by a straight single guy who didn't read our profile properly! |

It's my nervous hello to couples - with single woman I'm fine, I'll just message but with couples I'm always a little unsure so I wink.
It never works but then again neither does messaging - winks are easier and don't take 10 to 15 mins to send just to be ignored. |

on the subject of winking those who wink at you if you wink back does this mean they should send the first message just curious as to know who is suppose to send the first message when it comes to winking |

I don't think winks are lazy or rude...sometimes its the "winker" maybe not being 100% sure if they are a match for what you are looking for, and gives you a chance to view their profile to see if you like what you see...... I do check mine and If I think there are mutual likes & interests and in the area, along with pics too I will wink back or message. I have been known to send the odd 1 or 2 |

Love to give and receive winks! Though if someone says they'd prefer a message, that's what they get.
Let ask this question instead: if you find someone attractive and they fit your criteria to very last detail, would you delete and block them because they sent you a wink? |

We like winking as a quick way of expressing an interest and think that if the wink is returned then the first winker sends a message (with face pics) knowing there is at least some attraction and is unlikely to be totally ignored. |

I don't think I've ever looked at my winks I occasionally click on just to clear the 100's of notifications. But other than that they're a waste of time |

I rarely look at winks, occasionally I get one from someone I have met in a club and I respond to those but usually I ignore them. Mostly because they are from couples, and I don't meet couples on my single profile so don't see the point of them. |

Agree, waste of time. Just for people who are too lazy to write. And they still expect you to make the first move. |
