Tell the employer to sort it out!! Unless you're employed as the cleaner that is... in that case I've no helpful advice other than go home for a poo. " well the building is a 60 year old school so very old pipes and would be a massive job to rip them out, we tried to have them inspected with a camera down the pipe, but they are so old they could even get the bolts out of the inspection cover ha ha. |

Cut the bottom off a 2ltr /lemonade bottle leaving the lid on. Push the cut off end down the toilet with an up and down movement. This normally works and you can put the bottle straight into a carrier bag straight from the toilet to dispose of it. Quick and as clean as possible way to unblock a loo...lol |

In that case the solution is simple.....
Switch to Izal toilet paper .....
Old style ceramic waste pipes where never intended to cope with modern toilet tissue,,

Yes. Get a black bin liner, Roll a hand towel up into a ball. Hold towel in your hand. Place your hand into bag holding the towel, Plunge the hole at the bottom of the pan vigorously until blockage goes, turn bag inside out when removing your hand and towel or cloth, clean hand clean towel |

My guess is a drain has collapsed and the flow through it is almost non-existent, hence the blockages. You could try something like Hipshift (yes, I did spell that correctly...) or One-Shot drain cleaner. They're both 95% sulphuric acid and if they don't do it, the problem isn't a 'blockage' - it's far more serious.... |

The inspection then needs to start from the manhole outside. Quite often you may find that the settlement of the building has crushed the drain and relining may be required. I had similar problems in a block of retirement flats which I managed. It's quite expensive but needs doing properly. |

Yes; probably the only way; however, it doesn't necessarily mean digging the drains up; nowadays it is sometimes possible to use a " mechanical mole" which is just a drain size tunnelling machine; it can be used to " bore out" the crushed pipe, and then insert a new plastic liner. Alternatively it can drill a new pipe route, and a new pipe can be installed.
Still expensive, but sometimes you can't dig drains up if they are under buildings |

Yes, there's a thing that I pinched from work which has a pump blaster arrangement that you jerk up and down enthusiastically. It blasts pressure down the pipes thereby shifting the log-jam. Works great on showers and sinks as well. I think B&Q have them, not pricey however as they are plastic. |

Yeah but I'll wager he never had his pipe blocked......
Modern bog paper is well known to stick where it shouldn't...
No such problems with Izal.... |

Biggest mistake is to put kitchen paper/towel down it. It swells as it's made to absorb moisture.... Not nice... specially when your garden is swimming in it thanks to a neighbour five doors 'down the line'.... |
